Description

For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organization do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
MdM is present in Tanzania since 1992 contributing to the needs of the community in health care services and fighting HIV epidemic.
MdM has launched a harm reduction project in Dar es Salaam in 2010 which focuses on empowering the capacity of local organizations, health sectors and self-support groups.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The overall objective of the position of Social Worker Mentor (SWM) is to support the implementation of Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) and enhance the capacity and skills of the field team of local NGO implementing harm reduction program in improving social wellbeing of people who use drugs and linkage to available social support services. The SWM acts as a coach and mentor to his/her counterparts of the implementing partners and spends 80% of her/his time at the demonstration site level.

• The SWM provides support to her/his counterpart and field team of the local NGOs in identifying specific (social) needs of people who use drugs both in community site and in outreach.

• Provide mentorship and technical assistance to conduct interviews with beneficiaries and their families to assess their situation and offering support to them.

• Provide coaching and mentorship in counselling, advise & support beneficiaries in social issues (notably child care and gender or domestic violence)

• Provide support in Liaising with social welfare department under Municipal/organization for marginalised populations to be able to access to social welfare services

• Provide support to local NGO and facilitate to establish formal linkage with MAT clinic with the support of Program Support Manager.

• Build capacity of field team such as outreach workers and peer educators of the local NGO to generate demand for MAT among PWUD, assessing eligibility criteria through training and coaching.

• Provide technical assistance to her/his counterpart to establish and implementation of robust follow up mechanism for MAT beneficiaries in coordination with MAT clinic

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • A degree/ diploma in social work
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in social work with marginalised populations.
  • Experience in working in harm reduction program for people who use drugs is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and handle pressure
  • Able to cope with traumatic situations related to drug use and other risk behaviours
  • Problem solving and Analytical skills
  • Team spirit and strong motivation skills
  • Ability to supervise, mentor and monitor the activities

Background
The Office of the Resident Coordinator has been empowered with the reform process as its coordination functions have grown considerably in scope with the pilot initiative. As part of the efforts to speak with One Voice, the Resident Coordinator is the main link between the UN and the Government and Co-chairs the Joint Government – UN Steering Committee. Enhanced communication between the UN and key stakeholders is also part of the reform and it is in this respect that the Resident Coordinator’s Office is seeking an intern who will assist in the administrative functions of the Communications, Outreach, Advocacy and Partnership (COAP) unit of the office.



Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the UNRCO Communications Specialist the intern will be responsible for the following.

Creating daily press summaries covering both English and Kiswahili newspapers in Tanzania for dissemination to UN agencies and development partners;
Assist in maintaining and updating a filing system for all activities carried out by COAP. This involves documentation of press releases, meeting minutes, retirements, concept notes, approvals, etc;
Assist in the process of obtaining and retiring advances; printing of documents; creating briefing kits; and raising payments. The intern will also be responsible for coordinating logistical components of select COAP activities (events, field missions, etc.) as required;
Conducting monitoring and evaluation of media coverage after key UN events;
Conduct other tasks as required by the Communications Specialists based on the ongoing activities being conducted by COAP.

Competencies

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship (if a candidate is graduating before the internship period begins, they are no longer eligible); or
Have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree, if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages;
Not have graduated prior to the beginning of the internship.

Experience:

Computer literate in standard software applications;
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP’s Statement of Purpose  and to the ideals of the UN Charter; and
Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Language:

Proficiency in English and normally at least one additional UNDP working language (i.e., French or Spanish);
Fluency in Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese or Russian is an asset;

Conditions:
Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

All costs connected with an intern’s participation in the Programme must be borne by:

The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students;
The student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.
Costs incurred by an intern in the discharge of his/her functions shall be reimbursed by UNDP under the same rules as costs reimbursed to staff members. Costs incurred by an intern undertaking official travel at the request of UNDP in the discharge of functions related to the internship activities shall be paid by the Organization on the same basis as costs incurred by staff members, including payment of DSA, as applicable.

JOBS OBJECTIVES

Responsible for programme quality management and reporting within Global Fund programme implementation. Responsible for mabaging data collection and reporting for the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Framework including designing tools , methods and process for monitoring of the project t ensure progress and results, specifically for HIV and TB. She/he is responsible for developing M&E and reporting formats for SRs to monitor delivery and technical outcomes with the focus on module and regional targets. She/he  will ensure that modules delivered by SRs are accurately reported and that data quality is assured, including collaboration with the government on reporting towards national indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Masters degree in Public Health; Economics; Biostatics; Epidemiology or related field.
Post graduate training in Monitoring and Evaluation
Satisfactory exposure in managing Results-based monitoring and evaluation systems
Proven critical analysis skills and report writing skills

  • Prepare weekly imprest statement band petty cash statement and submit for reimbursement.
  • To issue works order numbers generated from the system and maintain the register for records keeping as per accounting instructions
  • Carry out bank reconciliation every moth reconciliation of general ledger for financial account preparation and timely submission to head office
  • Update all financial data in the appropriate systems to ensure proper management and control of financial information for decision making.

 

KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB

 

  • Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized learning institution.
  • Secondary Education Certificate (Form IV or VI).
  • Certificate of Basic Computer Application

REPORTS TO: SUPPLIES AND TRANSPORT OFFICER
REPORTING OFFICE: MBOZI REGIONAL OFFICE & MOMBA

POSITION OBJECTIVES
Driving company vehicles, and carry out other vehicles operation as instructed by procurement and transport officer in support of the companys business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving company vehicles providing transport facilitation for various business operations of the region.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date record on trip sheet, transportation forms and vehicle maintenance, incident and accident reports and vehicle condition reports.
  • Operates assigned vehicles in a safe and courteous manner observing all traffic regulations to avoid accidents and loss to the company.
  • Produce incident reports, accident reports, vehicle conditions reports and other records that will be requested by management for purposes of making decisions related to vehicles conditions.
  • Perform minor maintenance works on assigned vehicles to ensure the vehicle is in good condition that supports business operations.
  • Maintain fuel consumption of the assigned vehicles and reports all abnormalities to the relevant supervisors.
  • Monitor the schedule for minor and major vehicle maintenance to minimize service interruption.

 

KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB
  • Secondary Education Certificate (Form IV or VI).
  • Certificate in Driving issued by NIT, VETA or any other recognized institution.
  • Certificate of Competence issued by traffic department
  • Driving license Class C, C1, C2, C3, D & E
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in driving from the reputable organization
