Organizational setting and Reporting:

This position is located in the Language Support Services, Registry, Arusha Branch and reports to the Head of LSS.

Responsibilities: 

The incumbent of the post translates, subject to minimal revision, a variety of texts from French and English into Kinyarwanda and from Kinyarwanda into French, respecting deadlines and using appropriate terminology. S/he must further aim at a high standard of accuracy, consistency and faithfulness to the spirit, style and nuances of the original; observes established terminology and usage; ensures, as far as possible, consistency with other translations produced by the Service or other translators working on the same document. Uses all sources of reference, information and consultation relevant to the text at hand and carries out any research required. Must maintain a certain speed and volume of output, due account being taken of the difficulty of the text and the specified deadline. Identifies new terminology material and submits it for the consideration of revisers. Any ad hoc functions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Advanced degree from a university or from an institution of equivalent status in translation. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of translation experience, preferably in the context of the United Nations or an international organisation. Some degree of specialization in subjects with which the Mechanism deals, i.e. legal. Familiarity with terminology databases and knowledge of relevant computer software is an asset. Experience in revision is an asset.

Language:

English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post advertised, the incumbent should have Kinyarwanda as a mother tongue, a perfect command of French and an excellent command of English.

Position Description: The COP will be the principal point of contact in Tanzania for procedural and substantive matters. The COP will coordinate and ultimately be responsible for all contract management and implementation. S/he will be the primary liaison with USAID/Tanzania on technical matters and must adjust programs and operations in response to USAID/Tanzania technical direction. The COP will also be responsible for ensuring quality control and the overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided under the award.

The COP’s primary responsibilities will be aimed at providing overall leadership, management and general technical direction of the entire Activity, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and focusing on achieving the results defined in the award. This individual will be expected to identify issues and risks related to Activity implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate adjustments. This is anticipated to be a full-time position based in Tanzania.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in marine/coastal management, marine biology or other marine science, fisheries resource management, or another relevant field;
  • At least twelve (12) years of demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of donor-funded development activities, USG/USAID experience preferred;
  • At least seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in senior program management, including team leadership and direct supervision of professional and support staff;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in multi-stakeholder dialogue, including sustaining partnerships and strong working relationships with donors, host country government counterparts, the private sector, academic institutions, and civil society;
  • Proven experience navigating complex and high-pressure operating environments;
  • Proficiency written and spoken English is required. Swahili fluency is strongly preferred. Arabic skills are preferred (Zanzibar).

Reporting to; Country Manager

The role of a Branch Fleet manager will be responsible for planning, communication, policy development, ensuring statutory compliance and administration of all fleet management processes. Responsibilities;

Responsible for a fleet of 25 plus Tuk tuks and motorcycles

Serves as primary contact for all field level staff assistance (i.e. vehicle breakdowns, field assistance, mechanical issues, loading issues, etc).

  • Ensure compliance with tax matters, country labor laws and other statutory requirements as from the definition of the internal audit to be a consultant and advise on organization management by monitoring costs vs. revenue reported
  • To plan, engage and report on quarterly, semiannually or annually in auditing universe and to prepare audit reports and other agenda and present to board Audit and risk committee.
  • To be secretary in the Board for Audit and risk committee and record minutes in such meetings by recording all board directives to management and internal audit.
  • To lead internal audit team through coaching, discussions and act in professional in supervision of any assignment carried out.
  • To ensure organization strategic objectives are achieved through monitoring and reporting on non-compliance of statutory and organization policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other related duties as determined by the Executive Director.

Education
University degree, or equivalent in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field. Certification as certified Public Accountant Tanzania (CPAT), Chartered Accountant (CA), certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in audit, finance, accounting, administration or related area in control is required. Working experience in private sectors is desirable.

Languages
English and Swahili are the working languages of the united Republic of Tanzania. For this post, fluency in English and Swahili is required.

RITA was officially launched on the 23rd June 2006 and replaces what was known as the Administrator Generals Department in the Attorney Generals Chambers, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. It is an Executive Agency under the Attorney Generals Chambers in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

The history of RITA dates back in 1917 when the German Colonial power enacted a law for registration of births and deaths (Proclamation No.15 of 1917 (Civil Area). When the British took over the administration of Tanganyika (Tanzania Mainland) from the Germans retained the Register of births and deaths established under the Germans law by saving it under the Births and Deaths Registration Ordinance, 1920 (Cap.108)
It should be noted that under both colonial powers registration of births and deaths was not compulsory for Africans.
