POSITION: CIVIL ENGINEER (WATER SUPPLY)
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule the work and efficiently organize the site/facilities in order to meet an agreed program of deadlines.
  • To attend regular meetings with clients, architects and consultants and keeping them informed of progress.
  • Supervise and monitor the site labour force through General Foreman and or Supervisors, monitoring the work of any subcontractors to complete the work as per customer’s satisfaction.
  • Oversee quality control and safety matters on the site, and ensure that regulations are adhered to.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time.
  • Oversee the selection and requisition of materials for use in the construction / main tenance, to check whether the materials are as specified.
  • Supervise and ensure proper maintenance of materials and to advice on technology and modifications required for a simpler and cost-saving mechanism.
  • Prepare the necessary paperwork for the completion of work and get it authorized by the client after their inspection.
  • Develop a relationship with the Project Engineer and prepare periodical reports on the progress of work.
  • Experience in water supply projects particularly construction of water supply structures such as Intakes, tanks, treatment plants etc
  • Not less than twelve years of experience in Water/Structure/Building projects

QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES

Education

A University degree in one of the following fields is required: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineer, Irrigation Engineer or another relevant technical field.
Shall be registered with Tanzania Engineers Registered Board Work Experience
A minimum of twelve years of professional work experience in water Supply related programmes for developing countries is required.

Language Proficiency

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.

  • Ensure trucks and equipment are cleaned to prevent concrete hardening in the mixer and on the truck
  • Ensure GGM safety standards, policies & procedures are adhered to at all times

Sega Girls Secondary School in Morogoro seeks a “qualified” English teacher to teach Pre-Form 1 students using modern and innovative techniques. Must have Bachelor’s degree of Education or related field plus minimum of 3 years’ experience.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Work together as a team (Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher) to oversee a class of 35-40 students, with Lead Teacher assuming overall responsibility for the class.
  • Plan lessons in accordance with the priorities (syllabus) established by Sega’s Academic unit and using activity-based instructional methods.
  • Execute lesson plans while maintaining discipline in the classroom.
  • Prepare homework assignments to be done during the evening study session.
  • Provide a daily report to Academic Mistress summarizing key activities and any incidents outside of the expected norm.
  • Prepare and mark weekly tests and quizzes to assess student abilities.
  •  Evaluate and record individual student progress, and give feedback and individual or small group tutoring to students who perform below average.
  •  Prepare a final report card to be sent home with the student.
  • Participate in a weekly progress meeting with Sega’s Academic unit to discuss: a) Summary of past week’s lessons, b) Plan for next week’s lessons, c) Issues and/or challenges.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language.
  • Must be available for the full term from October 12 – December 17.
  • Demonstrated written and spoken command of English language (shortlisted candidates will be evaluated during the personal interview).
  • Prefer native English speaker.
