Description
The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is a statutory institution owned by the
two Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia on a 50/50 shareholding basis. Incorporated by the Acts of Parliament of the two contracting states, the Authority’s registered office is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with two regional administrative centres in Mpika, Zambia and Dar es Salaam.

Some positions have fallen vacant and, in this regard, applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants, as follows.

Corporation Secretary-1 Position

Reporting to: Managing Director

Duty Station: Head Office

Job Purpose

To advise Management on legal matters and provide legal and administrative services to the Council of Ministers, Board of Directors and the Authority in general as well as safe guard Authority interests and asset utilisation.

Main Duties

a) Providing legal, administrative and secretarial services to the Board of Directors and Council of Ministers;

b) Coordinating the interpretation arid implementation of the Authority’s policy decision’s across the board and ensuring that directives thereof are strictly adhered to;

c) Preparing and executing all Agreements to loans, asset acquisitions and property rentals, ensuring strict adherence to laid down conditions/stipulations;

d) Litigating on behalf of the Authority in all legal cases and advising Senior

e) Legal Counsel and Legal Officers involved in the litigation’s to ensure adequate representation of TAZARA interests;

f) Carrying out research on interpretation of the Labour Acts of both countries and other legal issues through critical examination of relevant literature and consultation with professionals to guide Management, the Board of Directors and the Council of Ministers in their decision-making;

g) Securing Title Deeds for all TAZARA land and coordinating with the relevant institutions’ in both states on matters pertaining to real estate i.e. property and Land;

Qualification

a) Form Four Certificate;

b) LLB Degree from any accredited University;

c) Legal Practicing Certificate;

d) An active member in good standing of the Bar of Tanganyika;

e) Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken; and

f) At least five years working experience

Senior Legal Counsel X 1

Reporting to: Regional General Manager, Tanzania

Duty Station: Regional Office, Dar es salaam, Tanzania

Job Purpose:

To provide legal advise, guidance and support to Heads of Department in order to ensure that exposure to legal risk is managed.

Main Duties:

a) Providing legal advice

b) Drafting and reviewing legal documents such as Contracts, Agreements and other internal Policy documents

c) Interpreting provisions of the various laws and legal documents

d) Ensuring that internal documents do not contravene the laws and regulations of the land

e) Representing the Authority in all court cases and

f) Reporting all legal cases to the Corporation Secretary for further directives

Qualifications

a) Form Four Certificate

b) LLB degree from any accredited University

c) Legal Practicing Certificate

d) An active member in good standing of the Bar of Tanganyika

e) Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken and

f) At least two years working experience

Stenographer X 1

Reporting to: Administrative Officer

Duty Station: Workshops, Dar es salaam, Tanzania

Job Purpose

To provide secretarial services to the Functional Head and carry out other related work to optimise the superior’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Main Duties

a) Providing professional secretarial and administrative services;

b) Preparing and managing correspondences, reports an documents;

c) Maintaining a permanent filing system (soft and hard copy);

d) Processing incoming and outgoing mails and maintaining the mail registers;

e) Receiving visitors and organizing and scheduling meeting appointments;

f) Answering telephone calls promptly and providing information to callers, taking messages or transferring calls;

g) Ensuring a conducive working environment; and

h) Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

a) Form four with a pass in the English language;

b) Diploma in secretarial duties, obtained from a reputable institution;

c) Typing speed of 40 – 50 words per minute;

d) Computer skills, with particular proficiency in Microsoft programmes; and

e) At least two years experience.

Secretary X 3

Reporting to: Administrative Officer

Duty Station:Head Office, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Regional Office, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Job Purpose:

10TH GRADUATION CEREMONY The Principal of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) is pleased to invite the College graduands of the 2016/2017 academic year and the general public to the Tenth Graduation Ceremony which will be held at DUCE Grounds on Wednesday 15th
November 2017 starting from 01:00 pm. GRADUANDS ARE REQUIRED TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:


1. Pay a total of Tshs. 42,000/- being the cost of hiring academic costumes and convocation fee. Payments shall be made to DUCE NBC account number 071101000196 (DUCE Collection) by 14th November 2017. Graduands will meet their own travel, lodging and incidental expenses.

2. Confirm participation online through their ARIS accounts before 06:00 pm 13rd
November, 2017.

3. Obtain Agreement Forms for hire of academic costumes through the DUCE website

Community Development and Relief Trust (CODERT) started operating in Tanzania since
July 2004 as a registered NGO and operates in 5 priority regions of Mwanza, Dodoma, Morogoro, Geita and Mara particularly in Geita, Nyamagana, Ilemela Dodoma urban, Kilombero, Rolya and Bunda districts respectively. CODERT focuses in four (5) programs include Livestock development, environmental sustainable development, Women and Youth development, agriculture development and land use management. The main activities in key sectors of Environmental management, equitable Land use Plan, Education, Livelihood security, youth, women rights and child rights. CODERT executes its program activities mainly through Advocacy campaigns, capacity building (training, publicity materials – IEC and linkage)
CODERT is implementation of the USAID KIZAZI KIPYA Project in partnership with Pact Tanzania funded by USAID in Ilemela MC. As part of the preparations for the project new year, the organization would like to recruit suitable officer for the project in Ilemela in Mwanza Region
Position: Case Management Coordinator (CMC)
Duty Station: Ilemela Municipal Council (1 vacancies)
Reports to: Case Management Officer (CMO)
Supervises: Lead Case Workers (LCWs) and Community Case Workers (CCWs)
Key roles and responsibilities:
  • To supervise Lead Case Workers (LCWs) and Community Case Workers (CCWs) and to provide continuous mentoring and support to ensure delivery of high quality case management services.
  • To assist the CMO to ensure that the case management services delivered address the holistic needs of OVC and care givers including health, nutrition, education, protection, livelihoods and psycho-social well-being.
  • To assist the CMO in the quality step-down trainings to LCWs and CCWs and facilitate monthly meetings in the field to introduce new topics, improve quality and re-enforce guidelines and procedures.
  • To ensure that the LCWs and CCWs complete required case management forms and ensure case filing system is developed and maintained.
  • To work in partnership with local government authorities (LGAs) as appropriate, including but not limited to District Executive Directors (DEDs), Council Health Management Teams (CHMT), District Social Welfare Officers (DSWOs) and Ward level officials.
  • To create community linkages for broader community engagement of youth and care givers in case management, child protection, parenting To participate in the mapping existing community cadres (Community Health Workers, Home Based Care workers, para-social Workers etc) in communities and assist government officials to recruit and select LCWs and CCWs for the National Integrated Case Management Training for CCWs.
  • To ensure that all LCWs and CCWs are oriented to the Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct; take all cases of child abuse seriously and allow national protocols to ensure timely reporting.
  • To ensure that LCWs and CCWs are coordinating with local structures including health facilities and Child Protection Committees (formerly known as Most Vulnerable Children’s Committees).
  • To participate in the development of a service directory for social services (in coordination with the Health and HIV Services Officer) in implementation areas; update the directory at least once a year.
  • To submit timely update to the Case Management Officer for inclusion in the quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports of the project.
  • To document lessons learnt and best practices for experience sharing and replication.
  • To safeguard and to protect all the project assets and other working tools entrusted to him/her during the duration of his/her employment.
  • To safeguard and protect the project beneficiaries: their human rights, the rights of children and the safety and confidentiality of the beneficiaries’ records and reports. This also includes the code of conduct when working with children.
  • To observe the CODERT code of conduct and ethics
  • To perform any other relevant duties as assigned by Case Management Officer and the Project Manager.
Skills and experience:
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 years’ experience working with orphans and vulnerable children or the most vulnerable children and their care givers or parents in the areas of health, education, social support, nutrition and protection.
  • Work experience in the promotion of child protection, children’s and human rights and prevention of gender based violence and violence against children.
  • Proficient with MS Word. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint will be added advantage.
  • Report writing and publication skills.
  • Good presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Good written and oral English and Kiswahili
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple teams, partner agencies and community members.
  • Readiness to spend 50% of the working hours (15 days per month) in the field.
Academic qualifications:
First Degree or Diploma in Social work, Community Development or related fields from institutions registered or recognized by the Government of Tanzania.
