Scholarship Description: There is an opportunity within the Sciences Po and Freie Universität Berlin for an undergraduate student to pursue Dual BA program. The Stephen M. Kellen scholarship covers two years of tuition fees at Sciences Po and the living allowance of $6.000/year.

Kellen scholarship covers two years of tuition fees at Sciences Po, in addition to a living allowance of $6.000/year for the two years spent on Sciences Po’s French-German European Campus in Nancy, and a living allowance of $7.000/year for the two years spent at the Otto-Suhr-Institut of Freie Universität.

Scholarship Description: The University of Newcastle now wishes to offer its PhD scholarship and providing an opportunity within the UON School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy in the Faculty of Health and Medicine for a PhD research student. The Scholarship is available for both Australia and international students. The aim of the scholarship is to support students who have masters in Biomed/Sci, with a completed research project that employed drug development, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, cell culture techniques and be prepared to used animal models.

About University:

The University of Dar es Salaam is the oldest and biggest public university in Tanzania. It is situated on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the observation hill, 13 kilometres from the city centre. It was established on 1st July 1970, through parliament act no. 12 of 1970 and all the enabling legal instruments of the constituent colleges. Prior to 1970, the university college, Dar es Salaam had started on 1st July 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue Master degree programme.

Available Subject: CREATES encompasses Six main streams, i.e., “Sustainable Agriculture”, “Food and Nutrition Sciences”, Master of Science in Conservation Management of African Ecosystems (CMAE), “Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management”, Clinical Human Nutrition and Dietetics as well as “Global Health and Biomedical Sciences”, which includes MSc program in “Nanoscience and Drug Development ”.

Scholarship Benefits: The Master´s scholarship programme will run for two years starting January 2018. All admitted students will receive a partial scholarship over this time frame. The partial scholarship will cover university fees and direct student costs (i.e., a monthly stipend at the rate of US$ 200 per month to cover living expenses (meals and upkeep allowance) while in Tanzania. Accommodation fees are being paid directly to NM-AIST which provides student hostels. Support to attend prescribed courses and/or undertake research in partner institutions will be covered as will be determined by CREATES Management Team and the respective students and supervisors. Research costs are only covered by a minimum amount and all students are required to apply for additional funding to cover their research activities.

Number of Scholarships: Up to 25 scholarships are available.

Successful students receive fellowships, which include a $10,000 award per year over 3 years. The aim of the scholarship is to assist members in maintaining and improving their professional development, irrespective of their existing qualifications.

Scholarship benefits: Successful students receive named Fellowships, which include a $10,000 award per year over 3 years.

Eligible Nationality: International students are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Students: Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time PhD program at a university in Africa. Applicants who are currently in their first year of a part-time PhD program and transferring to full-time positions are also welcome to apply. Students should be early stage PhD students, i.e., should not have been into more than 1 year of their PhD Applicants for the 2018 Fellowship must have started their program on or after 1 January 2017. Students must remain enrolled in the PhD program for the duration of the Fellowship or forfeit the award. Applicants must be pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or related areas. Google employees and family members of Google employees are not eligible. Students who are already receiving another corporate fellowship are not eligible.

For current Undergraduate/Masters students and Professionals

  • Grant of the fellowship to this category of applicants is contingent on them joining a full-time PhD program at a university in Africa within the calendar year of the award.
  • Student applicants must be current full-time Undergraduate or Masters Students enrolled at an African university.
  • Professionals must be employed/ affiliated with an organization registered in Africa.
  • The Google Fellowship award shall be contingent on the awardee registering for the full-time PhD program of an African university, in Computer Science or related areas, within the calendar year 2018, or the award shall be forfeited.
  • Grant of the Google Fellowship does not mean admission to the PhD program of a university. The awardee must also complete the PhD admission process of the respective institute/university where he/she wishes to register for a PhD.
  • Grant of the Google Fellowship will be subject to the rules and guidelines applicable to the institute/university where the awardee registers for the PhD program.
  • Google employees and family members of Google employees are not eligible.
  • Applicants who are already receiving another corporate fellowship are not eligible.

Application Procedure: Gather the following documents:

  • Applicant’s resume with links to publications (if available).
  • One-page resume of the student’s PhD program advisor.
  • Available transcripts (mark sheets) starting from first year/semester of Bachelor’s degree to date.
  • Research proposal (maximum two pages).
  • Three letters of recommendation from those familiar with the applicant’s work (at least one coming from the thesis adviser in case of current Ph.D. students). If the recommendation writers want to send the letter separately, they can mail it directly to [email protected] with the subject “Recommendation for [applicant-name]”.
