Job Purpose:

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:

  • Promotes and coordinates sale and distribution of newspapers in areas served by franchised wholesale distributors: Surveys urban and suburban areas to determine news paper sales potential, using statistical tables, and recommends new outlets and locations for newsstands, street sale racks and.
  • Schedules delivery and distribution of newspapers and regulates size of orders to maintain maximum sales with minimum return levels.
  • Open new Sales Channels to improve copy sales supported by Sales initiatives as push factors
  • Evaluates Distributor and vendor sales performance daily and assists them through sales promotion and training programs.
  • Inspects routes to ensure prompt and regular delivery of newspapers to distributors, Vendors. Homes & Offices.
  • Distributes and explains circulation instructions and changes to distributors and Vendors, and investigates and resolves distributor and Vendor complaints.
  • Investigates delinquent accounts and makes collections.
  • Ensures the visibility of MCL brands in your respective markets.
  • Instructs Vendors, drivers, distributors on sales techniques to improve sales.
  • Lays out home and office delivery routes and organizes carrier crews
  • Analyses sales statistics to assist management in circulation planning.
  • Reports on sales, activities of competitors and reader feedback.
  • Writes promotional bulletins to notify dealers and carriers of special sales promotions and offers.
  • Arranges for sale of newspapers at special events and sale of special issues and editions in case of important news breaks and events.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

University Degree in Business related field At least 2 to 3 years working experience.

  • Assist in maintaining general accounting systems for use by management in controlling expenditure and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
  • Assist developing approvals and implementation of accounting standards and procedures to ensure uniform accounting practices, adequate internal controls, and compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Cost accounting and General accounting.
  • Liaising with department heads, area managers, and others in management on accounting matters and an interpretation and use of related reports.
  • Ensuring sound financial record keeping as well as development and maintenance of financial systems and procedures.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly accounts (balance sheet and income statements).
  • Balancing all accounts including stocks and cash control accounts, pre-payment accounts, accruals, inter-company accounts etc.
  • Stock Control, Stock Levels, Stock Checking, Stock Variances & Spoilages, and Stock Ordering – the Assistant Accountant will oversee all aspects of stock control function including spot checking stock records for accuracy. Spoilages and Variances have to be accounted for.
  • Camp Petty Cash or Bank Expense Accounts -The Assistant project accountant will ensure that all expenses have corresponding signed valid receipts and supporting paper work including any necessary valid Tax/VAT receipts for the expenses made.

DAI seeks a Chief of Party for an anticipated horticulture project in Tanzania. The anticipated project is expected to sustainably enhance the commercialization, competitiveness, and inclusiveness of horticulture value chains applying market systems approaches. The Zone of Influence (ZOI) for the project will include the regions of Morogoro, Iringa, Mbeya, Njombe, and Zanzibar. It will also include market sheds outside of this ZOI, such as Dar es Salaam, Songwe, and Arusha.

Responsibilities:

The COP will be responsible for overall project management, including field team mobilization and leadership; development and implementation of work plans, operational budgets and performance monitoring plans; coordination with the USAID mission, government officials, other donors and partner organizations, and ensuring achievement of project results and objectives. The COP will supervise key project staff and ensure compliance with USAID rules and regulations and DAI policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated track record of achieving results in a development context;
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in international development, with USAID or international donor experience strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory experience on complex, donor funded projects;
  • Demonstrated track record of working in teams and fostering collaborative partnerships;
  • Technical expertise in at least one of the following areas required: market systems and private sector engagement, agriculture and value chain development, resilience, livelihoods, youth and gender development, and access to finance;

Job duties and responsibilities

  •  Perform core tasks in the World Bank’s task team supporting the Citizen-Centric Judicial Modernization Project. This will include engagement and coordination with the Tanzanian Judiciary, provision of technical guidance with respect to the project, and facilitating the team in engagement with the client. It will also entail project management, monitoring implementation progress and results, providing progress updates, and coordinating and participating in review missions by the task team.
  • Represent the GGP in the World Bank task team supporting the preparation and implementation of the Digital Tanzania project, including leading the component on One Stop Shops for administrative services.   • Contribute to strategic thinking and direction of the World Bank’s governance program in Tanzania, and support the development of new projects and engagements as appropriate. Support GGP in-country governance dialogue with key stakeholders such as senior government officials, development partners, members of parliament, state owned enterprises and parastatals, and civil society. Support strengthening of governance in sectors.
  • Lead and contribute to governance-related Advisory Services and Analytics (ASAs), including quantitative and qualitative analysis of governance practices and measures. Provide analysis and updates on governance developments in Tanzania activities to Country Management Unit (CMU) and GGP. Contribute to key World Bank reviews such as the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) and other strategy documents. Undertake administrative tasks as needed.

Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree in relevant field (such as public finance, public administration, economics, accounting, public policy) and eight years of relevant work experience.
