PSYCHIATRIC NURSES (5 POSITIONS)

Reports to: Patron/Matron

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
  • Develop care plans for patients, helping them be as independent as possible
  • Administer and monitor treatment regimens
  • Administer prescribed medications, making constant adjustments commensurate with a patient’s condition under the supervision of qualified medical staff
  • Observe and report behavioral changes
  • Maintain control of drugs and medications
  • Help patients improve their coping abilities
  • Work with patients’ families to help improve the patient’s abilities & help them deal with family member’s mental illness
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Since then the Organization has grown in terms of interventions and coverage.

Currently the ADP Mbozi aims to be a leader in facilitating socio-economic empowerment of marginalized rural and urban communities in Southern Highlands of Tanzania through community empowerment on HIV prevention, impact mitigation, gender and good governance; promotion of improved agriculture production and food utilization, entrepreneurship and market development, addressing challenges of environment.

The organization is implementing the program known as USAID Kizazi Kipya in Tunduma Town council under the agreement with Pact with the purpose of  enabling   Tanzanian orphans, vulnerable children (OVC) and young people affected by HIV utilize  age-appropriate HIV/AIDS-related and other services for improved care, health, nutrition, education, protection, livelihoods, and psychosocial well-being.

In order to achieve the intended of USAID Kizazi Kipya program objectives, the organization seek a dedicated   and keen person to undertake the case Management officer post in Tunduma.

She/he will require to; –

  • Oversee Case Worker Coordinator and provide overall leadership for case management activities.
  • Share direct supervision responsibilities of Community Case Workers (CCWs) WITH Case Worker Coordinator.
  • Disseminate and ensure adherence to case management, child protection, referral and linkages, parenting, and M&E guidance, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other job-aids that facilitate holistic case management at the household/Community levels.
  • Ensure that case management serves delivered address the holistic needs of OVC and caregivers including health, nutrition, education, protection, livelihoods, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Conduct quality step-down trainings to Case Worker Coordinator and CCWs.
  • Regularly monitor case management activities and use the information to improve case management quality and implementation.
  • Ensure CCWs complete required case management forms and ensure case filling system is developed and maintained.
  • Work in partnership with local government authorities as appropriate, including but not limited to District Executive Directors, Council health Management Teams, District Social Welfare Officers, and Ward-level officials.
  • Create community linkages for broader community engagement of youth and caregivers in case management, child protection, parenting, etc.
  • Map existing community cadres (Community Health workers, Home-Based Care Workers, Para-Social workers, etc.) in communities and assist government officials to recruit and select CCWs for the National Integrated Case Management Training for CCWs.
  • Ensure CCWs are coordinating with local structures including health facilities and Child
  • Protection Committees (formerly known as Most Vulnerable Children’s Committees)

Lead the development of a service directory for social services (in coordination with the Health and HIV service Officer) in implementation areas; update the directory at least once a year.
Ensure that Case Management Coordinator is providing continuous mentoring and support to CCWs; directly conduct supportive supervision to Case Management Coordinators and CCWs.
Submit timely updates to the team leader for inclusion in the quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
Document lessons learned and best practices for experience sharing and replication.
Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Project Manager/Team leader.

Minimum Requirements:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Social, international development and public health Sciences.
At least 2 years’ experience working/implementation in Health and HIV related programmes/projects and Conversant in Case management, Child protection, referral and linkages, parenting
Excellent training skills in working with adult learners, particularly at the community level; experience in an appreciative approach a plus.
Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.

Position Description

Technical and Leading Roles

    • Support implementation of SERA BORA communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation
    • Manage USAID branding and marking plan for SERA BORA Project
    • Manage internal communications (memos, brochures, newsletters etc.)

THEATRE/SCRUB NURSES (7 POSITIONS)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  •  Keeping the theatre clean and all autoclaving done.
  • Scrub and assist surgeons
  • Ensure patient safety and maintain a high standard of nursing care.
  • Re-stock equipment/supplies as needed
  • Clean surgical instruments and maintain sterility in the theatre, recovery room and autoclave room.
  • Document nursing care and patient condition in appropriate documents, both in the theatre and in the recovery area
  • Understand the proper use of all equipment used in the theatre and the recovery room. (Diathermy, pulse Oximeter, suction machine, light source, theatre beds, defibrillator and autoclave.)
  • Ensure safety of equipment during use, as well as when moving it from one unit to another.
  • Oversee care for patients as they wake from surgery
  • Perform any other duties related to the role as directed by the supervisor.

Duties

(30%) OUTGOING SHIPMENTS:

    • Arranges and facilitates outgoing shipment and customs clearances for personal property of assigned U.S. Direct Hired employees and for U.S. Government equipment and supplies.
    •  Responsible for soliciting bids from the contracted shipping agents in country – requests for proposals include packing, weighing, storage, actual travel arrangements, etc., and recommends company for the GSO approval.
    • Upon approval, works with the requester (departing employee and/or Mission offices) and the selected shipping company to arrange for dates & times for packing, supervises actual packing to ensure conformance with USG regulations and Post policies, advising the company of pertinent regulations; and ensuring that shipments are transferred to storage or shipping carrier on schedule.
    • Reviews charges for all shipments before approval of the GSO. Incumbent prepares all the necessary documents, letters, customs forms, etc. to obtain the required export permits and exemptions. Tracks and advises on status until delivery to final destination.
    • Advises travelers of their rights, benefits and privileges, responsibilities and of restrictions, verifies travel orders, prepares documents and records for the movement of freight and related matters. Assists U.S. Government employees with the settlement of claims for personal property lost or damaged in outgoing or incoming shipments.
  • Inspects export packing companies operations to ensure that they meet applicable standards and follows up to ensure deficiencies on status of shipments and recommends contractors for specific jobs.

(30 %) INCOMING SHIPMENTS:

  • Responsible for the clearing of all incoming shipments (air and sea freight) for Agencies under COM Authority and for personal effects (household and consumables).
  • Prepares required documents for import permits & exemptions, arranging for customs clearance, pick-up or storage, and delivery to final destination.
  • Tracks and advises on status until final receipt.
  • Negotiates with Customs and other government officials related to customs clearance, regulations and policies.
  • Works through resolution with Customs officials and clearing agents on issues pertaining to shipments.

Assists neighboring land-locked Missions (e.g. Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi) with transit shipments through Tanzania.

(15%) VEHICLES

    • Advises and assists Missions personnel on the importation, registration, licensing, technical inspection, purchase, and sale of GOVs and POVs.
    • Prepares and submits paperwork and documentation related to these transactions. Advises incoming personnel, before and upon arrival, of pertinent laws and regulations governing the importation and registration of vehicles. Assist American officers with obtaining a local driver’s license.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on host country vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Maintains contacts with insurance companies and assists employees with the purchase of insurance.
  • Maintains the GSO databases related to vehicle and insurance information. Interacts with Motor Pool and GSO Procurement to ensure official vehicles are properly registered and insured.
  • Assists Missions personnel who have been involved in traffic accidents with GOVs or POVs, files accident and official reports in accordance with the country regulations and post policy.
  • Advises personnel on post policy regarding traffic and parking violations. Informs employees on local traffic laws, accident and violation procedures.
  • Distributes tickets for moving and parking violations to the appropriate person or section, advising personnel on payment requirements and methods.
  • Assists customers who request the help in resolving ticket payment disputes with the authorities.

(15%) EXPEDITING
Assists in/out bound PCS employees and families through screening, check-in and immigration procedures at the airport. Liaises with Mission staff, e.g. motor pool, housing, CLO to arrange transportation and confirm housing residential arrangements. Advises and facilitates the import and export of live animals making sure all required documentation, certifications, and approvals are in place. Obtains import or export permits from the Ministry of Water and Livestock

Serves as the primary POC for VIP passengers. Assists VIP passengers and secures access to VIP lounges. Coordinates with the Control Officer and other Mission sections the VIP’s smooth arrivals and departures.

(10%) RECORDS KEEPING
Responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and efficient paper and electronic records for all actions being taken. Records should include but not be limited to contacts and procedures for all functions, and status of the various shipments, visa requirements, etc.

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressive experience in the shipping industry is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Excellent knowledge of host country customs regulations, immigration, and traffic rules.

Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school (form IV) required.
Evaluations:

BACKGROUND;
Established in 1948, The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union composed of both government and civil society organisations. IUCN is implementing a Project entitled “Integrating a Rights-Based Approach (RBA) to enhance social and economic inclusion in agricultural growth corridor development”. The Project, funded by the Open Society Foundation (OSF), aims to mainstream RBAs in in sustainable natural resources management.

IUCN Tanzania is seeking a motivated Project Assistant to support the implementation of the Rights based Approach Project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES;
Assist in the preparation and execution of the Project work plan and budget
Assist in the development of informative radio shows session on rights, accountability and inclusion based on NRGF study findings
Participate in the dissemination of SAGCOT’s IGG tools at landscape level
Assist in organizing and providing logistical support to project events including training workshops, meetings and field visits
Participate in the documentation of lessons learned and best practices on IGG,
sustainable finance, rights and government
Participate in the production and dissemination of communication materials (policy briefs, factsheets, brochures) on IGG, rights and governance for awareness raising, lessons sharing, policy influencing and improving IUCN visibility
Produce activity reports
Represent IUCN at events as may be required
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS

• Work Experience;

At least three years of professional experience in conservation, forest and natural resources management and governance.
Solid knowledge of conservation, land tenure, natural resources governance and sustainable development issues
Practical experience in the implementation of field projects as well as in organizing and facilitating training and dialogue workshops.
Experience in developing radio programs and producing communication materials.
Experience in creating and facilitating dialogues, partnerships and synergies;

• Education;

A University degree in a relevant discipline, including agriculture, forestry, water resources management, natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, environmental management, communication, natural governance or related fields.
Knowledge of Issues related to water resources management will be an added advantage.

Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both written and verbal).

I. Background
The Eastern Africa Sustainable Forest Programme builds on foundation laid out by the Terrestrial
Programme under the WWF’s Coastal East Africa Global Initiative (CEA-GI) that was implemented

between 2010 and 2015. Sustainable Forest Programme seek to strengthen regional coordination and
collaboration and scale-up regional interventions by working more closely with Regional Economic
Commissions (RECs). The programme works in 5 countries Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Madagascar
and Mozambique with the focus to address illegal trade in timber and embrace regional collaboration
among countries to improve forest governance.

II. Major functions:
Under the technical guidance of Monitoring & Evaluation Manager and Regional Forest programme
coordinator;The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will be responsible for coordinating the systematic

monitoring of the progress and impact of the WWF East Africa Regional Programme, focused on the
design, implementation and reporting of a programme monitoring plan. Responsibilities also include
preparation of annual work plans and supporting reporting and evaluation cycles. The over-riding aim
is to ensure that indicators required meeting both donor and internal reporting and evaluation
commitments are consistently met, measured and reported. In support of this, the officer works closely with the programme staff team, partners and third party researchers to ensure that routine data
collection protocols are maintained.

III. Major duties and responsibilities:

    • Prepare, or revise as appropriate, a comprehensive programme monitoring plan, based on relevant programme documents, funding proposals, log frames and other relevant planning documents;
    • Support the Programme Coordinator by taking the lead in developing and monitoring progress of annual work plans;
    • Maintain a master spreadsheet database for monitoring all progress and impact indicators for the programme, ensuring the database is updated semi-annually through collective process involving programme team members, ensuring all are conversant with their roles and responsibilities on the same;
  • Ensure that programme colleagues and member countries are trained in, and aware of, routine monitoring information and data requirements, monitor actual performance on collection of that data by the said team, and keep the Programme Coordinator updated on a quarterly basis;
  • Oversee the identification and engagement of third party contracted consultants, researchers or partners in meeting data collection needs of the monitoring plan, where needed, including drafting of contracts;
  • Co-ordinate timely preparation by other team members and partners of inputs required for technical progress reporting for the WWF network and other donor requirements, and submits in timely fashion to the Programme Coordinator;
  • Support the Communications Officer in production of programme status brochures and dashboards, to share progress and impact data with stakeholders and interested third parties; advise on risk-based approaches to managing projects
  • Undertake periodic review of the implementation and operation of the monitoring and reporting mechanism; revising it where appropriate, and preparation of best practices and lessons learned;
  • Under supervision of the Programme Coordinator, support the process of identifying, contracting and overseeing mid-term and final project evaluations, and ensuring outputs and recommendation from the same are shared with the staff team and other stakeholders as relevant, and incorporated into annual work plans and future project design, as appropriate; Routinely collect information and photographs during field visits to enable reporting of individual ‘success stories’ relating to community members that have benefited from WWF

Community Forest Enterprises initiatives;

IV. Profile:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/ Forest Economics or Forest Biology. Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
  • At least 5 years working experience in monitoring and evaluation relating to natural resources management initiatives and/or project cycle management;
  • Experience, training and knowledge in the field of forest conservation monitoring, including both data collection and analysis will be a particular added advantage;
  • Experience in ecological and/or socio-economic monitoring or research, including of miombo woodlands, coastal forests habitats and/or household socio-economics, and/ or community knowledge, attitudes and practices etc. will be an added advantage;
  • Experience of working with CSOs, CBOs, women and youth in Village Forest reserves, TFS and forest reserves within core protected areas such as national parks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and deliver high quality, timely outputs; and with excellent interpersonal skills and good teamwork spirit;
  • Experience in writing project technical reports and preparing monitoring plans;
  • Willingness to participate in field activities and travel to remote areas within the region;

increase the programme visibility in the member countries and other relevant stakeholders on
issues relating to illegal trade in timber, forest governance and climate change adaptation and
mitigation.

III. Specific Tasks

The Incumbent will work closely with the Regional Forest Programme coordinator to execute the
following tasks:

  • Ensure that relevant program materials such as Human Interest Stories, donor reports, proposals, factsheets, infographs etc. are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels. The Communications Officer will assist WWF member countries in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.
  • Develop and maintain contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets (print, TV, radio, web etc.) in 5 member countries to increase coverage of conservation issues in the media (print, broadcast and digital). Specific activities may include:
  • Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials.
  • Collaborate with the media by organizing project counrty visits; facilitate photo coverage and TV footage and utilizing both web-based and traditional media as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials. Maintain a library of media coverage, clippings etc.
  • Provide content for WWF Regional Forest programme blogs, TCO website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, instagram and YouTube etc). Monitor content on line and provide guidance and reactions and responses whenever needed. Ensure that the programme makes the best use of technology for key communications activities (e.g. content development for web sites & intranet development, social media and online marketing).
  • Ensure timely and quality production of advocacy and branding materials such as periodicals, annual and donor reports, supplements, calendars, briefing notes, Human Interest Stories, picture stories, videos, etc. The Communications Officer will develop and archive communication materials, including digital, such as publications, press releases and clippings, photographs, audio-visual materials, web resources etc.
  • Events/campaigns: Assist in organizing and generating public support for special events and campaigns to promote strategic conservation goals. Support organization of workshops, seminars, campaigns, events and project review meetings including agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Identifying opportunities for press coverage around events and specific publications and working with colleagues to develop targeted media strategies, including drafting press releases and pitching op-eds.
  • Manage press inquiries and pursue opportunities for promoting the East Africa regional

Programme in member countries.

  • Develop communications projects, budgets, and prepare progress reports timely as per WWF’s reporting Standards.
  • Work collaboratively with fundraisers and programme staff to provide communications products that will support fundraising efforts for the East Africa Regional Forest programme.
  • Support Forest programme officers in member countries in identifying and documenting appropriate content for producing appropriate communications materials, stories, articles, audio visuals, presentations, radio and television programmes.
  • Ensure production of good and quality reports (bulletin, Semi Annual and Annual Reports) of MFA Finland in collaboration with Regional Forest Programme Coordinator.
  • Work under technical close supervision by TCO Communication Manager and Regional
  • Forest Programme Coordinator in administrative matters.

IV. Profile;
Minimum Bachelor degree in Mass Communication, preferably with post graduate qualification
in climate change, forest economics or forest biology .

  • At least 5 years working experience in communication and media related to natural resources management initiatives, forest conservation and/or climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • Experience, training and knowledge in the field of communication and media related to forest conservation, protected area management will be a particular added advantage;
  • Experience in climate change adaptation and mitigation, ecological and/or socioeconomic monitoring or research, including of miombo woodlands, coastal forests habitats and/or household socio-economics, and/ or community knowledge, attitudes and practices etc. will be an added advantage;
