Position Summary

IHI is looking for qualified and experienced Field Officers to perform a pilot work in a project title Tools for Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (TIMCI). This is a pragmatic cluster randomized controlled trial of pulse oximetry and clinical decision support algorithms in primary care in Tanzania.

The Field Officers will be required to collect quantitative data on the interventions that affect patient flow and patient-provider interactions, including change in care processes, consultation time, and communication between caregivers and healthcare providers. They will also be required to collect data on the impact of health and quality of care outcomes of sick children under specified age healthcare facilities. The Field Officers are expected to have knowledge and skills on qualitative and quantitative research methods and who are also quick to establish good relationships with workers in respective selected health facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data in healthcare facilities.
  • Adopt the TIMCI protocol and procedures for better data collection.
  • Support research implementations as per GCP the study areas.
  • Participate in supervision of TIMCI data collection teams, health care workers and community members.
  • Participate in presentation/ communication of research status at district level.

 

Qualification and Experience

Diploma in Sociology, Public Administration, Community Development, Nursing or Clinical Medicine; or an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine (AMO).

 Skills and Competencies

 

  • Extensive experience in collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Experience in health and clinical research with focus in service provision assessment.
  • Knowledge of good clinical practice (GCP).

Position Summary 

IHI is looking for Clinical Officer – Volunteer to work in a phase III randomised controlled multi- centre trial to evaluate the efficacy of the R21/ Matrix- M vaccine in African children against clinical Malaria (VAC 078), to treat patients and communicate to the team the prospective study participants. The Volunteer will participate in community sensitisation meetings and establish rapport to recruit study participants; and will be required to work in a professional and ethical manner in line with approved trial protocol within strategic objectives of IHI, and the public health needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare the site and ensure that it has all the facilities which meet standards before conduct study and qualified staff to support a vaccine trial.
  • Treat patients according to national Guidelines for clinical management and local guidelines.
  • Attend internal and external clinical trial team meetings conducted from time to time.
  • Participate in updating of study standard operating procedures and study documents.
  • Recruit study participants and conduct follow ups according to specified trial protocol and standard operating procedures (SOPs) schedule.
  • Ensure that, SOPs and related study documents are well communicated to the study team and are duly followed by personnel involved in the trial.
  • Adhere to ethical principals in human research during the implementation of the trial.Assist the research officer to supervise the study team to adhere to procedures, according to approved protocol, ICH guidelines and any relevant local regulations.
  • Assist the research officer to review the documents and perform clinical and physical examination during study visit.
  • Participate any adverse event and report to the research officer and compile clinical notes of the study.
  • Attend community sensitization meeting and attract study volunteers.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the project leader.

Qualification and Experience

 

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
  • At least 1 year of working experience.

Position Summary

IHI is looking for Lab Technicians to volunteer in the laboratory to support processing of samples from the Clinical Trials Facility and health facilities in Bagamoyo. The Technician will be required to work in a professional and ethical manner in line with GCP, GCPL and approved trial protocol within strategic objectives of IHI, and the public health needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that specimen collected and received are documented and managed properly before analysis.
  • Perform routine tests in assigned area of the laboratory according to Standard operating. procedures (SOPs), Quality manual, Safety manual and sample handling manuals well as in line with GCP, GCLP, and approved trial protocol.
  • Adhere to safety procedure when collecting, laboring and storing all laboratory specimen.
  • Ensure that all laboratory findings are recorded and stored as per study protocol.
  • Perform isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), perform separation and storage of serum and plasma.
  • Assist in hematological and clinical chemistry sample analysis.
  • Document and report protocol deviation and implement CAPA for reported deviation.
  • Perform malaria antibody ELISA, intracellular cytokine staining and ELISPOT assays to assess the immunogenicity of candidate vaccines.
  • Ensure provision of high quality and accurate laboratory results.
  • Ability to trace documents and archive samples.
  • Carry out additional duties as may be assigned by the project leader

 

Qualification and Experience

 

  • Diploma in medical laboratory technology, registered.
  • Working experience of 2 to 3 years.

 

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Hard worker.
  • Flexible on time schedules.
  • Competent in operating microscope and other laboratory assays such as ELISA, ELISPOT, Flow cytometry, Biochemistry, Hematology and microbiology.

Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare the site and ensure that it has all the necessary facilities to meet standards before conduct of study and selected staff to support a vaccine trial.
  • Respond to questions addressed in collaboration with the sponsor/ designee, submission of documents and completions of checklist (updating).
  • Attend weekly clinical trial team meetings and on-line sponsor meetings.
  • Participate in updating of study standard operating procedures and study documents.
  • Recruit study participants and conduct follow ups according to specified trial protocol and standard operating procedures (SOPs) schedule.
  • Ensure that, SOPs and related study documents are well communicated to the study team and are duly followed by personnel involved in the trial.
  • Adhere to ethical principals in human research during the implementation of the trial.
  • Supervise the study team on adherence to procedures, according to approved protocol, ICH guidelines and any relevant local regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the recruitment and follow up of study participant and provision of clinical.
  • Care to study participants as specified by study protocol and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures compliance with each study’s protocol by providing thorough review and
  • Documentation of each participant who visit study.
  • Performs medical procedures, including, but not limited to, vital signs, blood collection and anthropometric measurements.
  • Administers investigational medications and performs patient assessments during clinic visits and ward observation to determine presence of adverse events; notifies Principal Investigator/Study physicians of findings/issues.
  • Provides counselling, health education and medical information to study participant to ensure understanding of scheduled follow up, proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment.
  • Documents medical data in patient chart to capture protocol requirements.
  • Work as part of medical team by provide Standard Medical Care.
  • Communicate with other study staff regularly at scheduled meeting and actively.
  • Ensure the study is done according to the ICH Guidelines and Good Clinical Practice GCP).
  • Support maintenance of study documents and planning of study schedules.
  • Adhere to strict ethical and confidential standard.
  • Prepare wards and sample room for participants follow up visits.

 

Qualification and Experience

 

  • Diploma in Nursing registered level.
