The successful candidate will also be expected to stay up to date with new technologies, be willing to experiment with new formats and have ideas for ways in which Niambie can remain at the forefront of online content creation.<\/p>\n<p>The digital content producer is directly responsible for managing all the project\u2019s online accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Soundcloud. The role requires strong editorial skills and a firm grasp of Tanzania\u2019s new online content regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will be expected to work independently to a high standard and be capable of making decisions about contents and formats without supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project outputs include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 A national youth-focused radio show<br \/>\n\u2022 Social media channels that provide a space for young people to interact with each other and share their thoughts on important issues<br \/>\n\u2022 Capacity-building with young professionals from five regions across Tanzania<br \/>\n\u2022 Collaborative partnerships with national media organizations who broadcast the Niambie radio programme<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main duties:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Originating and delivering high-quality ideas for original digital content.<br \/>\n\u2022 Liaising with producers, research and project staff in content planning meetings and production.<br \/>\n\u2022 Checking digital content prior to publication to ensure it is accurate, legally sound and complies with the BBC\u2019s editorial standards and child protection policy.<br \/>\n\u2022 Filming and editing of still photos and video.<br \/>\n\u2022 Attending events for reporting purposes as assigned.<br \/>\n\u2022 Supporting young professionals to pitch stories and create content for Niambie social media channels.<br \/>\n\u2022 Working with the research team to gather and analyse online interactions and sharing information with the production team.<br \/>\n\u2022 Travelling outside Dar to gather content and support the radio production team.<br \/>\n\u2022 Developing a robust strategy for increasing Niambie\u2019s digital reach and audience engagement.<br \/>\n\u2022 Developing and pitching creative story ideas.<br \/>\n\u2022 Working with radio producers to find and utilise the most effective ways of cross-promoting stories.<br \/>\n\u2022 Monitoring Niambie\u2019s social media platforms and escalating potential editorial\/moderation issues where appropriate.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintaining a logical workflow and sticking to deadlines.<br \/>\n\u2022 Keeping across new and emerging social media trends and sharing new ideas with the production team and management.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintaining a digital library that can be used across productions and accessed by other teams in the organisation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Shooting and editing videos and photographs for use on Niambie online platforms.<br \/>\n\u2022 Sharing social media comments and insights with the research team.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3464335665\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\n<strong>Required skills and experience<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Good communications skills and technical knowledge.<br \/>\n\u2022 Degree or diploma in journalism, mass communication or related field.<br \/>\n\u2022 Minimum of five years\u2019 experience in online content gathering, journalism or mass communication \u2013 experience of creating content for social media is desirable.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of radio production and sound editorial judgment.<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent English and Swahili writing skills.<br \/>\n\u2022 Good computer skills \u2013 ability to use audio\/video editing software preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022 A good understanding of audio and visual production and post-production techniques.<br \/>\n\u2022 Creative flair, with strong writing skills and the ability to structure a narrative.<br \/>\n\u2022 A willingness to experiment with new technologies to create compelling, high-quality digital content with minimal supervision.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience of working independently and within a team.<br \/>\n\u2022 A good understanding of managing an online production process to deliver content on time and to budget.<br \/>\n\u2022 Highly organised, with a proven ability to prioritise, manage a workload and deadlines and maintain attention to detail.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience working in a development or related setting.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proven ability to multitask.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following competencies (behaviours and characteristics) have been identified as key to success in the job. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media and governments to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats, based on robust research, which inform and engage audiences around key development issues.<\/p>\n<p>BBC Media Action delivers a portfolio of media projects in Tanzania. It seeks to ensure that existing projects are delivered to time, to budget and to the highest standards in accordance with BBC editorial values.<\/p>\n<p>Our work is built on insights from research and engagement with communities and focuses on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>BBC Media Action has been working in Tanzania since 2009. One of our biggest projects is Niambie \u2013 a multimedia intervention connecting young people from across Tanzania to understand, discuss and influence decisions about issues affecting their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Niambie provides a unique space in the national media for young people to discuss important issues on their own terms and in their own language. It engages and informs young people from across Tanzania, creating a platform for them to talk to their leaders. Evidence shows that Niambie contributes to increased self-efficacy among young people and women and increased ability to engage in discussions and take action on issues that matter to them.<\/p>\n<h2>Job Purpose:<\/h2>\n<p>We are looking for a content researcher to join the team that makes multimedia content for the Niambie project. This role will ensure that content on our radio and online platforms for young people is rooted in practical, actionable information and meets our audiences\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the senior producer, the content researcher will generate and refine ideas for stories, contributors, interviews and other programme elements across Niambie. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and writing topic briefs and originating story and theme ideas.<\/p>\n<p>S\/he will be expected to ensure that programme elements and contributors are relevant to audiences and to support the production team to create radio and online content that is representative of real life.<\/p>\n<p>S\/he will be expected to have knowledge of current themes and trends in local, national and international news and media that may be of interest to Niambie\u2019s audiences.
