{"id":5968,"date":"2018-04-11T16:38:49","date_gmt":"2018-04-11T13:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/?p=5968"},"modified":"2018-04-11T16:38:49","modified_gmt":"2018-04-11T13:38:49","slug":"job-opportunity-at-east-african-community-internal-auditor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/job-opportunity-at-east-african-community-internal-auditor\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Opportunity at East African Community, Internal Auditor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The East African Community is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of Uganda with its Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>INTERNAL AUDITOR (REF: EAC\/HR\/2017-18\/04)<br \/>\nOrgan : EAC Secretariat<br \/>\nGrade : P1<br \/>\nOffice : Office of the Secretary General<br \/>\nJob reports to : Principal Internal Auditor<\/p>\n<p>MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- linkAD.2 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3390598296\" data-ad-format=\"link\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nTo conduct independent risk-based internal audits of the EAC Organs and<br \/>\nInstitutions projects and programmes so as to identify any weaknesses and in consultation with the auditor-in-charge propose recommendations for improvement.<\/p>\n<p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>To assist in planning for normal, snap and follow-up reviews and carry out the fieldwork once plan is approved by the Principal Internal Auditor.<br \/>\nCarry out audit procedures for any segment of an audit under supervision from the auditor-in-charge.<br \/>\nInterpret results of audit work performed, determine internal control weaknesses, and propose recommendations for consideration by the auditor-in-charge.<br \/>\nProperly document work performed and drawing conclusions based on the objective of carrying out the work.<br \/>\nMaintain current and permanent audit files.<br \/>\nContinue professional development through on-the-job training, self-study, and internal and external audit courses as they become available.<br \/>\nTo analyze and document audit findings in accordance with International standards for Professional Practices of Internal Auditing issued by the institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).<br \/>\nCarry out audit of donor funds and projects to ensure strict adherence of the terms of project\/financing agreements.<br \/>\nCarry out special audits and investigations as may be directed by head of internal audit and management.<br \/>\nTo prepare the audit reports.<br \/>\nTo identify gaps and propose for consideration desirable updates to the audit programs and audit manual to the Principal Internal Audit.<br \/>\nOther duties as assigned by the Head of Internal Audit.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n<p>Possess a first degree in business or economics, with specialty in accounting or related discipline from a recognized university.<br \/>\nMust possess a professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA, CPA (U), CPA (K), CPA (T) and or any other relevant Professional Qualification in Similar Field.<br \/>\nMinimum five (5) years audit experience with knowledge in accounting principles, audit techniques, Internal Auditing standards.<br \/>\nExperience using computer aided audit techniques will be addedAdvantage.<\/p>\n<p>SKILL AND COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge and experience in using any of the accounting packages;<br \/>\nAdvanced skills in using MS Office packages (Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint);<br \/>\nGood interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation);<br \/>\nAdvanced level of organization and planning skills;<br \/>\nExcellent analytical and numerical, and investigative skills;<br \/>\nKnowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards.<\/p>\n<p>ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATIONS:<br \/>\nApplicants from all EAC Partner States are eligible to apply for the above position.<\/p>\n<p>TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:<br \/>\nThe above position is tenable for a contract of five (5) years renewable once .<\/p>\n<p>FRINGE BENEFITS:<br \/>\nThe established posts offer attractive fringe benefits including housing allowance, transport allowance, education allowance, a medical scheme, and insurance cover. The terms and conditions for the project position will be determined as per agreement between EAC and Development Partner .<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATIONS QUALIFICATIONS:<br \/>\nAll candidates applying must have qualifications that are recognized by the relevant national accreditation body in their respective Partner State.
