As part of the efforts to speak with One Voice, the Resident Coordinator is the main link between the UN and the Government and Co-chairs the Joint Government \u2013 UN Steering Committee. Enhanced communication between the UN and key stakeholders is also part of the reform and it is in this respect that the Resident Coordinator\u2019s Office is seeking an intern who will assist in the administrative functions of the Communications, Outreach, Advocacy and Partnership (COAP) unit of the office.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3464335665\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Duties and Responsibilities<br \/>\nUnder the direct supervision of the UNRCO Communications Specialist the intern will be responsible for the following.<\/p>\n<p>Creating daily press summaries covering both English and Kiswahili newspapers in Tanzania for dissemination to UN agencies and development partners;<br \/>\nAssist in maintaining and updating a filing system for all activities carried out by COAP. This involves documentation of press releases, meeting minutes, retirements, concept notes, approvals, etc;<br \/>\nAssist in the process of obtaining and retiring advances; printing of documents; creating briefing kits; and raising payments. The intern will also be responsible for coordinating logistical components of select COAP activities (events, field missions, etc.) as required;<br \/>\nConducting monitoring and evaluation of media coverage after key UN events;<br \/>\nConduct other tasks as required by the Communications Specialists based on the ongoing activities being conducted by COAP.<\/p>\n<p>Competencies<\/p>\n<p>An organized and systematic approach to his\/her work;<br \/>\nAbility to quickly read and summarize text;<br \/>\nAbility to multitask and work under minimum supervision;<br \/>\nAbility to effectively plan and coordinate activities;<br \/>\nKnowledge of standard software packages, including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc;<br \/>\nAbility to work under tight deadlines;<br \/>\nAbility and willingness to work in a multicultural environment;<br \/>\nWillingness to learn from others and work well in a team environment;<br \/>\nKnowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN\u2019s work in Tanzania is an advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Required Skills and Experience<\/p>\n<p>Education:<\/p>\n<p>Enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship (if a candidate is graduating before the internship period begins, they are no longer eligible); or<br \/>\nHave completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree, if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages;<br \/>\nNot have graduated prior to the beginning of the internship.<\/p>\n<p>Experience:<\/p>\n<p>Computer literate in standard software applications;<br \/>\nDemonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP&#8217;s Statement of Purpose\u00a0 and to the ideals of the UN Charter; and<br \/>\nDemonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.<\/p>\n<p>Language:<\/p>\n<p>Proficiency in English and normally at least one additional UNDP working language (i.e., French or Spanish);<br \/>\nFluency in Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese or Russian is an asset;<\/p>\n<p>Conditions:<br \/>\nInterns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.<\/p>\n<p>All costs connected with an intern&#8217;s participation in the Programme must be borne by:<\/p>\n<p>The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students;<br \/>\nThe student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his\/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.<br \/>\nCosts incurred by an intern in the discharge of his\/her functions shall be reimbursed by UNDP under the same rules as costs reimbursed to staff members. Costs incurred by an intern undertaking official travel at the request of UNDP in the discharge of functions related to the internship activities shall be paid by the Organization on the same basis as costs incurred by staff members, including payment of DSA, as applicable.<\/p>\n<p>UNDP is committed to achieving workforce diversity in terms of gender, nationality and culture.
