The school then transformed into the Faculty of Medicine of the<br \/>\nUniversity of Dar es salaam that in 1991 was upgraded and became a college\u2013the Muhimbili<br \/>\nUniversity College of Health Sciences (MUCHS). In 1996, the Faculty of Medicine that was<br \/>\nupgraded to a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam, with the aim of nurturing it<br \/>\nto a full-fledged university later on was merged with the Muhimbili hospital to create the<br \/>\nMuhimbili Medical Centre (MMC).<\/p>\n<p>Over the years MUCHS made significant achievements in terms of increased student<br \/>\nenrollment and development of several new academic programmes. The Parliament Act No. 9<br \/>\nof 1991 that established MUCHS was repealed in 2005 through the universities Act No. 7 of<br \/>\n2005. Subsequently, in 2007 Article 1 of the Charter of Incorporation established MUHAS in line<br \/>\nwith the Universities Act No 7 of 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the University are the advancement of knowledge, diffusion and extension of<br \/>\ntechnology and learning, the provision of higher education and research and, so far as is<br \/>\nconsistent with those objectives, the nurturing of the intellectual, aesthetic, social and moral<br \/>\ngrowth of the students at the University. MUHAS has two campuses; Muhimbili Campus and<br \/>\nMloganzila Campus.<\/p>\n<p>4.1 MEDICAL SPECIALIST II \u2013 7 POSTS<\/p>\n<p>4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n(i) Carry out ward rounds including teaching ward rounds;<br \/>\n(ii) Attend emergency medical duties and responsibilities;<br \/>\n(iii) Perform clinical duties and responsibilities in both private and public outpatient clinics;<br \/>\n(iv)Participate fully in morning clinical sessions, patients\u2019 presentation and journal clubs;<br \/>\n(v) Do researches in their respective medical fields;<br \/>\n(vi)Teach and supervise medical doctors, students and other health professionals in clinical<br \/>\nworks in his\/her area of specialization;<br \/>\n(vii) Participate in Medical Boards;<br \/>\n(viii)Participate in outreach programs;<br \/>\n(ix)Participate in preparation of budget of the institution;<br \/>\n(x) Initiate, Creates and plans strategies to improve his \/her professional services;<br \/>\n(xi)Prepare Continuing Education Programs for Medical Personnel;<br \/>\n(xii) Provide Medical legal advice when required;<br \/>\n(xiii)Carry out administrative duties and responsibilities in his respective working area; and<br \/>\n(xiv) Perform any other Duties and Responsibilities related to his\/her work as<br \/>\nassigned by his\/her superior.<\/p>\n<p>4.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE<br \/>\n5<br \/>\nMaster of Medicine or Dentistry in one of the following field of specialization<br \/>\nAnesthesiology, Anatomical Pathology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery,<br \/>\nHematology and Blood Transfusion, Internal Medicine, Pediatric and Child health,<br \/>\nRestorative Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry or equivalent<br \/>\nrespective qualification plus working experience of at least one (1) year and must be fully<br \/>\nregistered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika. Possession of a PhD will be an added<br \/>\nadvantage.<\/p>\n<p>4.4REMUNIRATION<br \/>\nAttractive remuneration package in accordance with institution salary scale PMGSS 11.1<\/p>\n<p>4.5 MEDICAL OFFICER II (HEAD OF BLOOD BANK) \u2013 1 POST<\/p>\n<p>4.6 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE<br \/>\nDoctor of Medicine Degree or its equivalents from a recognized University or Institution with<br \/>\nCompletion o f one year internship, fully registered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika as<br \/>\na Medical Officer. Master of Medicine in Haematology and Blood Transfusion will be an<br \/>\nadded advantage.<\/p>\n<p>4.7 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY<br \/>\n(i) Heads the blood center;<br \/>\n(ii) Accountable for the organization, management, administration and control of the<br \/>\nblood center;<br \/>\n(iii) Coordinates daily operations at the blood center;<br \/>\n(iv) Ensure effective and efficient use of resources and sustainability of the blood<br \/>\ncenter;<br \/>\n(v) Responsible for developing blood center programs, including static and out-reach<br \/>\nblood donation drives;<br \/>\n(vi) Responsible for supervising and guiding tasks of personnel;<br \/>\n(vii) Ensures that staff are adequately trained and acquire practical experience;<br \/>\n(viii)Performs performance evaluation of blood center staff;<br \/>\n(viii) Responsible for relevant patients\u2019 investigations and medical decisions;<br \/>\nEnsures that relevant standard operating procedures are maintained and up-<br \/>\nto- date;<br \/>\n(ix) Ensures execution of quality control programs for procedures, equipment, and<br \/>\nstaff;<br \/>\n(x) Conducts relevant operational and other research for continuous quality improvement;<br \/>\n(xi) Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his\/her superior.<\/p>\n<p>4.8 AUDIOLOGIST II \u2013 2 POSTS<\/p>\n<p>4.8.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n(i) Carryout audiometric therapy on patients with audio pathology;<br \/>\n(ii) Maintain an accurate record of the audiometric services provided to patients;<br \/>\n(iii) Compile case reports of each patient for monitoring treatment progress;<br \/>\n(iv)Take care of equipments in the Unit\/department and report any malfunctions.;<br \/>\n(v) Interview relatives and gather information that can assist in the treatment of<br \/>\npatients;<br \/>\n(vi)Offer technical guidance and support to subordinates; and<br \/>\n(vii) Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by superior from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>4.8.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE<br \/>\nBachelor Degree in Audiology or its equivalent from a recognized University\/Institution.<br \/>\nComputer skills will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n<p>4.8.3 REMUNIRATION<br \/>\nAttractive remuneration package in accordance with Institute\u2019s salary scale PMGSS 5.1<\/p>\n<p>4.9 AUDIOMETRIST II \u2013 1 POSTS<\/p>\n<p>4.9.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n(i) Conduct audiometric analysis;<br \/>\n(ii) Assist in prescribing audio prescriptions;<br \/>\n(iii) Maintain audio aids;<br \/>\n(iv)Keep and maintain patients statistics; and<br \/>\n(v) Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by superior from time to time.<br \/>\n4.9.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE<br \/>\nDiploma in Audiometry or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Computer skills will be an<br \/>\nadded advantage.<br \/>\n4.9.3 REMUNIRATION<br \/>\nAttractive remuneration package in accordance with Institute\u2019s salary scale PMGSS 4.1<\/p>\n<p>5.0 MUHIMBILI NATIONAL HOSPITAL (MNH)<br \/>\nMuhimbili National Hospital (MNH) was established in November, 2004 with mandate to provide<br \/>\neffective, efficient and high quality tertiary specialist and super specialist medical services for<br \/>\nreferred patients for all areas of Tanzania, while providing conducive environment for training and<br \/>\nresearch. The Hospital attends between 1200 -1600 inpatients and between 1200 -1500 outpatients<br \/>\nand it have a total of 1,503 beds.<\/p>\n<p>5.1 ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER (NURSE ANAESTHETIST) II 1 POSTS<\/p>\n<p>5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\ni. Perform pre \u2013 operative patients visits: explain procedures to patients and check whether<br \/>\nthey have any medical conditions that could create problem under anaesthesia;<br \/>\nii. Prepare operating room: check anaesthesia machine, supplies, medicine and gases;<br \/>\niii. Assist Anaesthesiologist to administer anaesthetics to patients;<br \/>\niv. Administer intravenous fluids and basic anaesthetics to patients under supervision and<br \/>\ndirection of anaesthesiologist;<br \/>\nv. Observes condition of patients during surgical procedures, including skin color, dilation of<br \/>\npupils and vital signs: initiates remedial measures to prevent surgical shock or other<br \/>\nadverse condition as required;<br \/>\nvi. Documents anaesthesia notes on patients;<br \/>\nvii. Help wake up patients after the anaesthestics;<br \/>\nviii. Accompanies patient to recovery area and remains until patient\u2019s immediate condition is<br \/>\nacceptable;<br \/>\nix. Perform post \u2013 anaesthesia patient visits to rule out any complications secondary to<br \/>\nanaesthesia;<br \/>\nx. Assist the anaesthesiologist in the emergencies;<br \/>\nxi.
