{"id":3295,"date":"2017-11-05T19:23:38","date_gmt":"2017-11-05T16:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/?p=3295"},"modified":"2017-11-05T19:23:38","modified_gmt":"2017-11-05T16:23:38","slug":"job-at-veterinarians-without-borders-veterinaires-sans-frontieres-canada-vwbvsf-rural-training-specialist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/job-at-veterinarians-without-borders-veterinaires-sans-frontieres-canada-vwbvsf-rural-training-specialist\/","title":{"rendered":"Job at Veterinarians without Borders \/ V\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires sans Fronti\u00e8res \u2013 Canada (VWB\/VSF), Rural Training Specialist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">ALL JOBS APPLY THROUGH<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-layout-key=\"-gy-e+2o-2k-38\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"9768410247\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Location<br \/>\nOther District Other Location<br \/>\nDescription<br \/>\nThis is a 3 to 4 month volunteer position in Tanzania starting in January of 2018 (start\/end dates and duration are flexible).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This position is only eligible for Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The goal of this position is to integrate into all Africa Bridge (AB) training curricula (Most Vulnerable Children Committee and co-op) culturally appropriate training methods \u2013 with a participatory approach \u2013 and train the trainers on the use of this methods, resulting in positive outcomes for semi-literate rural adult learners<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>Objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To advise on culturally appropriate M&amp;E tools for assessing outcomes of trainings with the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To collaborate with the Curriculum Development Specialist on testing the training manuals in the field<br \/>\nTo help refine the manuals after they have been tested<br \/>\nTo train the trainers on training methods and how to use the training manuals effectively<br \/>\nCoordinate the work with the Curriculum Development Specialist, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and prospective Abbott-funded 2016-17 project on entrepreneurship\/business\/co-op management training development for co-ops<br \/>\nAll volunteers are expected to promote gender equality, environmental sustainability and good governance within their placement responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>Academic Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bachelors or Masters-level (or equivalent) program in a relevant field such as: Communications or Journalism in International Development, or; Human Rights, Development Studies, International Relations or Public Health with a strong focus on Communications<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>Professional Background \/ Skills<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Experience in using participatory approaches and conducting needs-assessmentsExperience developing training materials and training plans for semi-literate, rural populations in developing countriesExperience working with adult learners in developing countriesExperience working in the vocational \/ technical training field and leading Training of Trainers (ToT)Knowledge of best practices for vocational \/ technical training deliveryPrevious international work \/ volunteer experience in Tanzania or other developing countryEffective cross-cultural communication skillsCommitment to the principles of volunteer cooperation and familiarity with participatory approaches to development, including the promotion of gender equality, good governance and environmental sustainability<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">VWB\/VSF-Canada covers costs including:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Travel and accommodation for the five-day pre-departure training course in OttawaReturn airfare to placement country and visa\/permit costsThe cost of required vaccinations, anti-malarial medication and overseas emergency travel health insuranceA modest monthly living allowance (MLA) that will be paid into the volunteer\u2019s bank account in Canada.
