The successful candidate will receive funding for a one-year postgraduate scholarship in the multidisciplinary MSc in Africa and International Development programme. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens domiciled in Tanzania, who have graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e. 2022-2024) or will be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility Requirements<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The award will be made to a Tanzanian citizen domiciled in Tanzania who has graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e., 2022-2024), or will be graduating from the\u00a0<strong>University of Dar es Salaam<\/strong>\u00a0in 2025, and who is accepted on the full-time\u00a0MSc Africa and International Development\u00a0programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Award<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scholarship will cover\u00a0<strong>Tuition Fees<\/strong>\u00a0and an\u00a0<strong>annual stipend<\/strong>\u00a0at the UKRI rate (amount to be advised; for reference, this is \u00a319,237 in 2024\/25). The annual stipend will be paid in monthly instalments following full matriculation. Payments are made into the awardee\u2019s UK bank account.<\/li>\n<li>Awards are made for one year only.<\/li>\n<li>The award cannot be held alongside any other scholarship funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit your application to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sps.ed.ac.uk\/study\/postgraduate-taught-programmes\/africa-and-international-development\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MSc programme<\/a>\u00a0following the application process guidance. Please ensure you include your: CV, degree certificates, final\/interim transcript(s), transcript grading scale(s), English language evidence, and academic references.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Submit your application to the scholarship through the<strong>\u00a0online scholarship application system\u00a0<\/strong>(see Applying section below). \u00a0 \u00a0This involves completing the following in your\u00a0<strong>Personal Statement<\/strong>\u00a0(up to 500 words\/3500 characters including spaces):<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(i) \u2013 List two books that you have read in the last five years which have had an impact on you. List the title and author of the books, and explain briefly what each book is about and why it has made an impression on you.<\/p>\n<p>(ii) \u2013 Why do you wish to do further studies? How would a MSc in Africa and International Development facilitate your career goals?<\/p>\n<p>(iii) \u2013 What do you think is one of the most pressing problems in Tanzania that needs research? How would you go about researching it? Who would be interested in or benefit from your findings? How and why?<\/p>\n<p>(iv) \u2013 What are Tanzania\u2019s major advantages in global development? Why and how are they advantageous? Who benefits from them?<\/p>\n<p>Notification<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CAS Selection Panel will meet in February to review the scholarship applications.
