Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional\u00a0student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more watch this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatesscholarship.org\/about-gates\" target=\"AboutTGS\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>AWARD<\/h3>\n<p>Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of\u00a0<span title=\"*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.\">attendance*<\/span>\u00a0that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar\u2019s college or university.<\/p>\n<p>*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>BASIC ELIGIBILITY<\/h3>\n<p>To apply, students must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A high school senior<\/li>\n<li>From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian\/Alaska\u00a0<span title=\"*For American Indian\/Alaska Native proof of tribal enrollment will be required.\">Native*<\/span>, Asian &amp; Pacific Islander American, and\/or Hispanic American<\/li>\n<li>Pell-eligible<\/li>\n<li>A US citizen, national, or permanent resident<\/li>\n<li>In good academic standing with a\u00a0minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, a student must plan to enroll\u00a0full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US\u00a0accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.<\/p>\n<p>*For American Indian\/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>IDEAL CANDIDATE<\/h3>\n<p>An ideal candidate will have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his\/her graduating class)<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE: The status is closed currently, stay updated for the new application window<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatesscholarship.org\/scholarship\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS AND THE APPLICATION PROCESS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DESCRIPTION The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households.
