{"id":20978,"date":"2021-07-16T00:33:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T21:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/?p=20978"},"modified":"2021-07-16T00:33:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T21:33:37","slug":"fully-funded-commonwealth-split-site-ph-d-scholarships-2021-2022-for-low-and-middle-income-countries-to-study-in-the-united-kingdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/fully-funded-commonwealth-split-site-ph-d-scholarships-2021-2022-for-low-and-middle-income-countries-to-study-in-the-united-kingdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Fully Funded Commonwealth Split-site (Ph.D.) Scholarships 2021\/2022 (for low and middle-income countries) to Study in the United Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fully Funded Commonwealth Split-site (Ph.D.) Scholarships 2021\/2022 (for low and middle-income countries) to Study in the United Kingdom<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"httpsss:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 2021 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"9068680313\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Application Deadline:\u00a0<strong>\u00a013 August 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO),\u00a0<strong>Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships\u00a0<\/strong>enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:\u00a0<\/strong>To widen access to UK equipment and expertise for high quality doctoral candidates from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries, and to contribute to UK and Commonwealth higher education and research through collaboration and partnerships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intended<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>beneficiaries:<\/strong>\u00a0High-quality graduates whose proposed research has a developmental focus and who have the potential to become influential teachers or researchers in their home countries.<\/p>\n<p>Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships are offered under\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"httpsss:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/about-us\/development-themes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">six CSC Development themes<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h1>Eligibility<\/h1>\n<p>To apply for these fellowships, prospective Host organisations must:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be registered for a PhD at a university in an eligible Commonwealth country by the time your scholarship is confirmed (September 2021)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ensure that an institutional or departmental link exists between your home university and your proposed UK university. This link must be greater than simply a collaboration between individuals \u2013 see section on \u2018Tenure and placement\u2019 for further details. Both supervisors must provide a supporting statement which provides further details of the link to ensure your application is eligible.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by January 2022<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 By December 2021, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master\u2019s degree)<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"httpsss:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 2021 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"9068680313\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship<\/p>\n<h1>Eligibile countries<\/h1>\n<p>Bangladesh<br \/>\nBelize<br \/>\nBotswana<br \/>\nCameroon<br \/>\nDominica<br \/>\nEswatini<br \/>\nFiji<br \/>\nGhana<br \/>\nGrenada<br \/>\nGuyana<br \/>\nIndia<br \/>\nJamaica<br \/>\nKenya<br \/>\nKiribati<br \/>\nLesotho<br \/>\nMalawi<br \/>\nMalaysia<br \/>\nMauritius<br \/>\nMontserrat<br \/>\nMozambique<br \/>\nNamibia<br \/>\nNauru<br \/>\nNigeria<br \/>\nPakistan<br \/>\nPapua New Guinea<br \/>\nRwanda<br \/>\nSt Helena<br \/>\nSt Lucia<br \/>\nSt Vincent and the Grenadines<br \/>\nSamoa<br \/>\nSierra Leone<br \/>\nSolomon Islands<br \/>\nSouth Africa<br \/>\nSri Lanka<br \/>\n<strong>Tanzania<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Gambia<br \/>\nTonga<br \/>\nTuvalu<br \/>\nUganda<br \/>\nZambia<\/p>\n<p>Benefits<\/p>\n<p>Each fellowship provides:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Approved tuition fees<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of \u00a31,116 per month, or \u00a31,369 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2020-2021 levels)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Warm clothing allowance, where applicable<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If you are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of \u00a3478 per month for the first child, and \u00a3118 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK<\/p>\n<h1>How to apply<\/h1>\n<p>You should apply to study at a UK university which has a part funding agreement with the CSC. Part funding agreements are at the discretion of individual universities. For a list of universities that have agreed to part fund Commonwealth Scholarships, visit the\u00a0<a href=\"httpsss:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/apply\/uk-universities\/part-funding\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UK universities with part funding agreements page on the CSC website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You must make your application directly to the CSC using the CSC\u2019s online application system.
