Driven by a core strategic mandate for research, training and services, the Institute\u2019s work now spans a wide spectrum, covering biomedical and ecological sciences, intervention studies, health-systems research and policy translation.<\/p>\n<p><b>Position Summary<\/b><\/p>\n<p>IHI is looking for a Research Officer to work with t h e Pyriproxyfen Autodissemination project based in Ifakara. T h e O f f i c e r w i l l b e r eq u i r e d to conduct research activities on mosquito borne diseases and their surveillances; meet minimum performance required by a research officer at IHI; present research findings from time to time to the thematic group meetings; and do some paper writing and data analysis.<\/p>\n<p><b>Duties and Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct researches based on mosquito borne diseases and its<\/li>\n<li>Report on progress and outcomes of the projects at the end of every month by way of electronic or printed<\/li>\n<li>Meet these minimum performance standards for a Research Officer:<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of second authored article in a recognized peer reviewed journal per<\/li>\n<li>Participated in the concept or proposal<\/li>\n<li>Have a collaborative<\/li>\n<li>Present research findings at least twice a year at weekly departmental meetings and at least once at a national conference during the course of the<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the community, government and other stakeholders as<\/li>\n<li>Undertake at least one professional development opportunity in grant writing, paper writing or data analysis during the course of the project.<\/li>\n<li>Seek support from PI and other senior scientist to apply for a grant to support master\u2019s program.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with any other duties as directed by the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><script async src=\"httpsss:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 2019-CreativeAD --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"8884173138\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><b>Qualification and Experience<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Holder of Bachelor of Sciences in Biology or Molecular biology or any other related<\/p>\n<p><b>Skills and Competencies<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Familiar with different assays performed in the laboratory for example ELISA, PCR, Electrophoresis, Microbiological analysis, and Parasites<\/li>\n<li>Understand Good Laboratory Practices that may result into availability of quality laboratory<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with researches conducted at IHI based on malaria vector<\/li>\n<li>Mosquito identification, collection and<\/li>\n<li>Identification of different mosquito trap: CDC Light trap, pit trap, resting buckets,MET<\/li>\n<li>Conducted different insecticide testing: Cone bioassay, tunnel testing and bottlebioassay<\/li>\n<li>Interpretation of results obtain from PCR<\/li>\n<li>Research proposal and report<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills (Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, STATA, R Studio andInternet).<\/li>\n<li>Work under minimum supervision but also within a<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to details, Good interpersonal and communication<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to IHI core values (Transparency, Accountability, Respect, Integrity and Initiative).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Remuneration<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An attractive and competitive remuneration package will be offered to successful candidates as per IHI salary scales.<\/p>\n<p><b>Equal Opportunity<\/b><\/p>\n<p>IHI is an equal opportunity employer.
