LOCATION: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania<\/p>\n

ROLE REPORTS TO: TCPA Executive Committee (Elected)<\/p>\n

TEAM: TCPA member representatives<\/p>\n

ROLE PURPOSE:<\/b><\/p>\n

The primary role of the Trade Association Manager is to represent the members\u2019 interests to external stakeholders in a manner that is positive, to ensure that members are abiding by industry standards and pursuing continuous improvement in order to develop the industry, ensure food security and better nutrition to Tanzanians<\/p>\n

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:<\/b><\/p>\n

Develop the Poultry Industry<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  • Arrange and attend poultry shows &amp; exhibitions<\/li>\n
  • Influence eating habits and perceptions through innovative marketing initiatives<\/li>\n
  • Educate consumers on the health benefits of poultry products<\/li>\n
  • Educate growers and potential growers on the commercial benefits of poultry farming<\/li>\n
  • Arrange corporate social responsibility initiatives (e.g. teaching children and young adults how to farm and market poultry)<\/li>\n
  • Present at various relevant forums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Represent Association in Government Forums<\/b><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

      \n
    • Attend scheduled Government meetings and forums along with the Chairman and \/ or Secretary of the TCPA<\/li>\n
    • Prepare all work that the members agree may be important to present at meetings and forums<\/li>\n
    • Actively seek to engage relevant Government representatives as requested by TCPA resolution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Industry Collaboration<\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

        \n
      • Work with associated industries (growers, feed producers, tourism, etc.) for the benefit of the overall food industry<\/li>\n
      • Work with relevant NGO\u2019s (e.g. US Grains Council, L-MIRA, World Bank, FAO, etc) to benefit the TCPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Industry Market Information<\/b><\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

          \n
        • Collate, interpret and publish member\u2019s data on a regular basis in order to ensure better food security in the sector<\/li>\n
        • Present relevant international trends, innovation, insights to members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

           <\/p>\n

          Industry Standards, Regulations &amp; Self-Regulation<\/b><\/p>\n

           <\/p>\n

            \n
          • Study and understand all legislation relevant to the poultry sector<\/li>\n
          • Understand draft legislation relevant to the sector and actively participate in comments and input forums<\/li>\n
          • Ensure that members are aware of regulations and arrange workshops for members for send relevant personnel to be trained on poultry standards and SOP\u2019s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

             <\/p>\n

            Operational Management<\/b><\/p>\n

             <\/p>\n

              \n
            • Schedule TCPA meetings, take and publish minutes, follow-up on issues raised, etc.<\/li>\n
            • Prepare a defined report for each TCPA meeting including, but not limited to, marketing activity, industry information, expenditure vs budget, debtors report, etc.<\/li>\n
            • Ensure that fees are up to date and follow up on any outstanding due<\/li>\n
            • On-board new members into the association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

               <\/p>\n

              KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED<\/b><\/p>\n

              REQUIRED:<\/b><\/p>\n

              1. University Degree or higher<\/p>\n

              2. Can demonstrate success of the following:<\/p>\n

              a. Ability to develop a product, brand or market, or<\/p>\n

              b. Ability to manage an NGO, or<\/p>\n

              c. Ability to lead people without authority<\/p>\n

              3. Strong communication ability in both Kiswahili and English (including presentation skills)<\/p>\n

              PREFERABLE:<\/b><\/p>\n

              1. Poultry or associated industry<\/p>\n

              2. NGO experience<\/p>\n
