{"id":16794,"date":"2020-06-18T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/?p=16794"},"modified":"2020-06-18T10:14:45","modified_gmt":"2020-06-18T07:14:45","slug":"jobs-at-poltan-africa-limited-senior-accountant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/jobs-at-poltan-africa-limited-senior-accountant\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobs at Poltan Africa Limited, Senior Accountant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"post-body-3890427972528872158\" class=\"post-body entry-content\"><b>Senior Accountant\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Job Summary<\/b><br \/>\n<b><br \/>\n<\/b>Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Description<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The accountant will be responsible for several major duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Document financial transactions by entering account information.<\/li>\n<li>Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Collect data to determine costs of business activity such as material purchases, inventory and labor<\/li>\n<li>Maintain an expenses database and determine fixed costs (e.g. salaries, allowances etc.)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Analyze actual operational costs and preparing periodic reports; compare standard costs to actual operational costs<\/li>\n<li>Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures<\/li>\n<li>Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting profitability of services<\/li>\n<li>Prepare monthly returns<\/li>\n<li>Analyze and report profit margins<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions<\/li>\n<li>Support to external audit function (Statutory Audit); ensuring that statutory audit is carried out successfully.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Maintain an up to date fixed asset register, prepare depreciation schedules and update the ledger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Payroll Administration; preparation of monthly payroll for payment and statutory deductions<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of debtors\u2019 accounts; keep record of all debtors\u2019 balances to ensure that they are easily understood and provide reliable information on the outstanding debts.<\/li>\n<li>Processing supplier\u2019s invoices; ensuring that the invoices have been properly approved. Ensuring that the goods invoiced have been received and that a GRN had been raised at the time of receiving the goods and ensuring that the invoice amount does not exceed the LPO amount.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all taxes are paid on or before their due dates, supported by accurate returns as required by the tax authorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Accountant General Skills and Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study.<\/li>\n<li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA Holder) or ACCA Certified<\/li>\n<li>In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).<\/li>\n<li>Conversant with the preparation of financial statements (company and consolidation)<\/li>\n<li>Knowledgeable on working with the IFRS as well as Tanzanian Tax Law<\/li>\n<li>Cost Accounting Knowledge,<\/li>\n<li>Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail,<\/li>\n<li>Deadline-Oriented,<\/li>\n<li>Confidentiality,<\/li>\n<li>Time Management,<\/li>\n<li>Data Entry Management,<\/li>\n<li>General Math Skills,<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office literacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply for this role, please send your CV, Professional Certificates and Cover Letter to\u00a0<b>robert@poltanafrica.com<\/b>\u00a0 Application Deadline: 30th June 2020<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Accountant\u00a0 Job Summary Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.
