These scholarships are offered under six themes:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-g-rec td-g-rec-id-content_inline td_uid_2_5d68674670a17_rand td_block_template_1 \">\n<ol>\n<li>Science and technology for development<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening health systems and capacity<\/li>\n<li>Promoting global prosperity<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening global peace, security and governance<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening resilience and response to crises<\/li>\n<li>Access, inclusion and opportunity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply for these scholarships, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an\u00a0<a href=\"httpss:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/phd-scholarships-least-developed-countries-and-fragile-states\/#countries\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eligible Commonwealth country<\/a>, or be a British Protected Person<\/li>\n<li>Be permanently resident in an\u00a0<a href=\"httpss:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/phd-scholarships-least-developed-countries-and-fragile-states\/#countries\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eligible Commonwealth country<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September\/October 2020<\/li>\n<li>By September 2020, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (a Master\u2019s degree)<\/li>\n<li>NOT be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, at a UK university before September\/October 2020<\/li>\n<li>NOT have commenced and be currently registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, in your home country or elsewhere<\/li>\n<li>Have the support of a potential supervisor from at least one UK university listed in your application form<\/li>\n<li>Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format<\/li>\n<li>Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><script async src=\"httpsss:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 2019 Links AD --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"9648899391\" data-ad-format=\"link\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nScholarship Worth:<\/p>\n<p>Each scholarship provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)<\/li>\n<li>Approved tuition fees Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of \u00a31,110 per month, or \u00a31,362 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2019-2020 levels )<\/li>\n<li>Warm clothing allowance, where applicable Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas<\/li>\n<li>Provision towards the cost of fieldwork undertaken overseas (usually the cost of one economy class return airfare to your fieldwork location), where approved Paid mid-term visit (airfare) to your home country (unless you have claimed (or intend to claim) spouse and\/or child allowances during your scholarship, or have received a return airfare to your home country for fieldwork)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Family allowances, as follows (rates quoted at 2019-2020 levels):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0If you are accompanied by your spouse but no children: spouse allowance of \u00a3239 per month for a maximum period of nine months, if you and your spouse are living together at the same address in the UK (unless your spouse is also in receipt of a scholarship; other conditions also apply)<\/li>\n<li>If you are accompanied by your spouse and children: spouse allowance of \u00a3239 per month and child allowance of \u00a3239 per month for the first child, and \u00a3117 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if your spouse and children are living with you at the same address in the UK (unless your spouse is also in receipt of a scholarship; other conditions also apply)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0If you are accompanied by your children but no spouse: child allowance of \u00a3476 per month for the first child, and \u00a3117 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if your children are living with you at the same address in the UK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You must apply to one of the following nominating bodies in the first instance \u2013\u00a0<strong>the CSC does not accept direct applications for these scholarships<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"httpss:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/national-nominating-agencies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National nominating agencies<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 this is the main route of application<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"httpss:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/phd-scholarships-low-middle-income-countries\/nominating-universities\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Selected universities\/university bodies<\/a>, which can nominate their own academic staff<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"httpss:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/nominating-ngos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Selected non-governmental organisations and charitable bodies<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All applications\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0be made through one of these nominating bodies. Each nominating body is responsible for its own selection process and may have additional eligibility criteria.\u00a0<strong>You must check with your nominating body for their specific advice and rules for applying, their own eligibility criteria, and their own closing date for applications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You must make your application using the CSC\u2019s online application system, in addition to any other application that you are required to complete by your nominating body.\u00a0<strong>The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>All applications must be submitted by\u00a0<strong>16:00 (GMT)\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0<strong>30 October 2019<\/strong>\u00a0at the latest.<\/p>\n<p>You are advised to complete and submit your application as soon as possible, as the online application system will be very busy in the days leading up to the application deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Your application must include the following supporting documentation, by\u00a0<strong>16:00 (GMT)<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>20 November 2019<\/strong>\u00a0in order for your application to be eligible for consideration:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proof of citizenship or refugee status \u2013 uploaded to the online application system<\/li>\n<li>Full transcripts detailing\u00a0<strong>all<\/strong>\u00a0your higher education qualifications including to-date transcripts for any qualifications you are currently studying (with certified translations if not in English) \u2013 uploaded to the online application system<\/li>\n<li>References from at least two individuals \u2013\u00a0<strong>submitted directly by the referees to the online application system<\/strong>\u00a0(referees will be sent an email request)<\/li>\n<li>Supporting statement from a proposed supervisor in the UK from at least one of the institutions named on your application form -\u2013\u00a0<strong>submitted directly by your proposed supervisor to the online application system<\/strong>\u00a0(supervisors will be sent an email request).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>It is your responsibility to ensure that your referees and proposed supervisor(s) are able to complete the references and supporting statements by the deadline and that they receive the reference and statement requests.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The CSC will not accept supporting documentation submitted by nominating agencies or outside the online application system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can\u00a0<a href=\"httpsss:\/\/fs29.formsite.com\/m3nCYq\/je4otvtpus\/form_login.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">access the online application system<\/a>\u00a0now<\/p>\n<p>Supporting documentation uploaded to the online application system must be uploaded as files which are no more than 5 MB in size and must be in one of the following formats: PDF, .doc, .docx, .odt, .jpg, .jpeg .
