{"id":11901,"date":"2019-07-29T09:57:16","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T06:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/?p=11901"},"modified":"2019-07-29T09:57:16","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T06:57:16","slug":"jobs-at-britam-legal-associate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unistoretz.com\/magazine\/jobs-at-britam-legal-associate\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobs at Britam, Legal Associate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jobs at Britam Tanzania, jobs in Tanzania, Nafasi za kazi Tanzania, Ajira mpya leo, Ajira mpya Tanzania<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- linkAD.2 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3390598296\" data-ad-format=\"link\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nJob Description &#8211;<b>\u00a0Legal Associate<\/b>\u00a0(1900002Q)<br \/>\nJob Description<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Purpose and Key responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The role holder will be responsible for assisting the Chief Operations Officer in implementing policies and procedures to ensure the business remains fully compliant with all Laws.\u00a0 The role will report to the Chief Operations Officer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting preliminary review of pleadings and raise requisition for appointment of external Lawyers.<\/li>\n<li>Review progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external Lawyers.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare, review and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.<\/li>\n<li>Investigating and authenticating documents in support of legal and third party claims to;<\/li>\n<li>Determine their probative value<\/li>\n<li>Determine their genuineness<\/li>\n<li>Ascertain their impact on claims<\/li>\n<li>Ascertaining suitable reserves on claims with legal and third party liability inclinations.<\/li>\n<li>Negotiating payable claims in the company\u2019s interest, including contentious motor and non-motor claims as and when instructed to do so.<\/li>\n<li>Assessing, commencing and following up recoveries against third parties to completion.<\/li>\n<li>Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Attending court as an officer of the company<\/li>\n<li>Assessing judgments against insured persons and the company and;<\/li>\n<li>Ascertaining their legal foundations<\/li>\n<li>Advising the company on chances of a successful appeal<\/li>\n<li>Determining the professionalism of the legal representation therein<\/li>\n<li>Presiding over the claim disputes with clients, and defending the company\u2019s policies and interests,<\/li>\n<li>Appointing Arbitrators in line with company policy guidelines, monitoring arbitration, protecting the company\u2019s position using the resources at disposal,<\/li>\n<li>Identifying changes in Laws affecting Insurance and advising the company.<\/li>\n<li>Provide legal guidance in developing, documenting and implementing processes and policies to effect compliance with evolving legal and regulatory environment.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Examine, analyze and respond to routine oral and written requests for advice or assistance on legislation.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Drafting legal documents including term sheets, business contracts, business memorandums and other transactional documents as the case may be.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining the legal documentation of the company and ensure various schedules and safes are up to date.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver on performance requirements as defined in the departments\u2019 strategy map, balanced scorecard and Personal Scorecard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3464335665\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\n<b>External Relationships:<\/b><br \/>\nBritam customers<br \/>\nInsurance sector players<br \/>\nLaw firms<br \/>\nCourts of Law<\/p>\n<p><b>Knowledge, experience and qualifications required<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s degree in Law from a reputable university<\/li>\n<li>Possesses a valid practicing certificate<\/li>\n<li>Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania<\/li>\n<li>3 years post admission (advocate of the high court &amp; subordinate courts).<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Experience in a the insurance industry.<\/li>\n<li><b>Leading and Supervising:<\/b>\u00a0Provides team with a clear direction based on the overall strategy and objectives of\u00a0 the department;
