Tanzania Volunteer Opportunities<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Volunteer Opportunities-Apply Online<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- linkAD.2 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4564014896468666\" data-ad-slot=\"3390598296\" data-ad-format=\"link\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Position:\u00a0Communications \/ Marketing \/ Graphic Design<\/b><\/div>\n<div><b>Location of Assignment:<\/b>\u00a0Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Mafinga, Tanzania<\/div>\n<div><b>Proposed Level of Effort<\/b>: approximately 3 weeks<\/div>\n<div><b>Anticipated Start Date:\u202f\u00a0<\/b>July 2019<\/div>\n<div><b>Anticipated End Date<\/b>: August 2019<\/div>\n<div><b><br \/>\nBackground<\/b><\/div>\n<div>The Tanzania Enabling Growth through Investment and Enterprise Program (ENGINE) is a USAID-funded Feed the Future activity that aims to streamline and enhance many of the regulatory, informational and financial channels that encourage domestic and foreign investment in the southern mainland agricultural regions of Mbeya, Morogoro, and Iringa, and in Zanzibar.<\/div>\n<div>ENGINE works at the district level, using a broad-based approach to engage with district Local Government Authorities (LGAs), private sector associations, business development service providers, financial institutions and small and medium enterprises.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Opportunity Statement<\/b><\/div>\n<div>The global demand for pyrethrum as an organic pesticide is growing every day. Tanzania is one of the worlds\u2019 largest producers and there remain opportunities for production expansion and improved productivity. The Pyrethrum Company of Tanzania (PCT) is the only processor in Tanzania and would like to see increased production in the country to support the growing market demand. The Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) is an agricultural service supporting commercial agriculture development with graduates from Sokoine University. SUGECO is in a position to provide business training and farming management tools to farms wishing to enter into Pyrethrum production in coordination with technical support with PCT.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The partnership between the two requires the mobilization of resources to develop a Pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum Daisies) package of services that would be offered to farmers on a fee basis. In order to initiate the needed fee based seminars to promote the services from SUGECO and the production of Pyrethrum, the USAID-ENGINE project, acting as a facilitator, would support the two organizations with a volunteer consultant who would assist in the design, formatting and content of the needed materials.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Objectives of the Assignment<\/b><\/div>\n<div>This assignment aims to offer critical assistance to two partners of the USAID-ENGINE Project who wish to combine their efforts to increase the market opportunity for professional agribusiness services and increase the production of high quality Pyrethrum flowers (Chrysanthemum Daisies).<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with SUGECO to prepare a brochure for their agribusiness services to support farmers wishing to produce Daisies for Pyrethrum production.<\/li>\n<li>Support the ongoing education of SUGECOs communications director for the ongoing preparation of such documents for the future.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the preparation of a PowerPoint Presentation targeted at Semi-Commercial farmers by SUGECO to entice farmers to utilize the services of SUGECO and to grow Daisies for Pyrethrum production on 5+ acres of land as semi-commercial farmers.<\/li>\n<li>Work with SUGECO to prepare a two-page flyer (front and back) promoting the services of their Farm Management Program and the utilization of Farm managers to run commercial farms.<\/li>\n<li>Review SUGECO\u2019s website and provide recommendations on layout, content representation, and ease of functionality.<\/li>\n<li>Work with PCTs\u2019 technical and agronomy teams to prepare a series of brochures to support farmers in their land preparation, planting, care and maintenance, harvesting, post-harvest handling, drying and packing of dried daisies for the production of Pyrethrum.<\/li>\n<li>Work with PCT to design and prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the growing of Daisies for Pyrethrum production to be used in coordination with SUGECO to entice farmers to plant 5+ acres as semi-commercial farmers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;
