Driven by a core strategic mandate for research, training and services, the Institute\u2019s work now spans a wide spectrum, covering biomedical and ecological sciences, intervention studies, health-systems research and policy translation.<\/p>\n<p><b>Assistant Nursing Officer\u00a0<\/b>(4 posts)<\/p>\n<p>Duty Station: Dar es Salaam study hospitals (Temeke\/Amana)<\/p>\n<p><b>Position Summary<\/b><br \/>\nIHI is looking forAssistant NursingOfficersto fill vacant positions in the CLEAN project. The key task of the ANO is collecting research data. This is a two-month full-time job starting from March 11, 2019. The actual work will be preceded by training.<\/p>\n<p><b>Duties and Responsibilities<\/b><br \/>\nSelect eligible women from the labor ward records.<br \/>\nIdentify selected women in the post-natal wards.<br \/>\nInform and counsel women about the study, using appropriate language and allowing time for questions.<br \/>\nObtain informed consent, including the signature of an impartial witness as necessary.<br \/>\nKeep records, including phone numbers, of women selected, counseled, consented and women who decline to participate.<br \/>\nRead and extract the required information from the medical records of each recruited women, entering them into tablet computers.<br \/>\nUndertake any other tasks that the supervisor shall reasonably require from time to time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Assistant Nursing Officer<\/b>\u00a0(2posts)<\/p>\n<p>Duty Station: IHI Dar es Salaam Office<\/p>\n<p><b>Position Summary<\/b><br \/>\nIHI is looking for Assistant NursingOfficersto fill vacant positions in the CLEAN project. The key task of the ANO is collecting research data. This is a three-month full-time post, startingfromMarch2019. The actual work will be preceded by a training.<br \/>\nDuties and Responsibilities<br \/>\nConduct short telephone interviews to approximately 20-20 postpartum women per day.<br \/>\nReceive weekly documentation about newly recruited women.<br \/>\nMaintain a diary to ensure each woman is telephoned at day 7 and day 30 postpartum.<br \/>\nEnsure each woman is telephoned on 3 subsequent occasions; if there is no answer, arrange an appropriate time to telephone again in casethe woman is busy, and ensure the follow-up call is made.<br \/>\nConduct interviews and make sure that each question is understood and answered thoroughly.<br \/>\nRecord responses straight onto a tablet.<br \/>\nRecords any woman requiring support for depression or distress and telephone the hospital social welfare team with the details.<br \/>\nUndertake any other tasks that the supervisor shall reasonably require from time to time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Qualification and Experience<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Essential<\/b><br \/>\n\u2713Diploma in Nursing.<br \/>\n\u2713Previous research experience, including in quantitative data collection.<\/p>\n<p><b>Desired<\/b><br \/>\n\u2713Experience working in maternaldepartment.<br \/>\n\u2713Experience working with tablet\/appsfor data collection.<br \/>\n\u2713A certified Nurse by MOHCDEC with a working experience in maternity formore than 15 years is an added value.<\/p>\n<p><b>Skills and Competences<\/b><br \/>\nComputer skills (Word, spreadsheet, data entry).<br \/>\nExcellent inter-personal skills.<br \/>\nAbility to work accurately, diligently and independently.<br \/>\nExcellent Kiswahili and good English language skills.<br \/>\nAdhere to IHI core values (Transparency, Accountability, Respect, Integrity and Initiative).<\/p>\n<p><b>Remuneration<\/b><br \/>\nAn attractive and competitive remuneration package will be offered to a successful candidate as per IHI salary scales.<\/p>\n<p><b>Equal Opportunity<\/b><br \/>\nIHI is an equal opportunity employer.
