Applications are now open for the 2025 One Young World Leading Scholarship Program. The Leading Scholarship is designed specifically to identify and support outstanding young leaders from countries that are often under-represented at global forums and decision-making spaces.

Requirements

You are eligible for the Leading Scholarship if you:

  • Are between the ages of 18 – 30*
  • Have an evidenced commitment to delivering positive change
  • Demonstrate capacity for leadership
  • Are addressing key local and/or global issues in your work
  • Have a track record of generating impactful and innovative ideas

*Most delegates are between the age of 18 and 30. The One Young World team will consider applications from those who are older than 30, pending demonstration of appropriate personal impact, initiative, and willingness to engage. We are not able to accept applications from those who will be aged under 18 at the time of the Summit.

  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Priority will be given to applicants from countries that have been less represented at previous One Young World Summits.
  • We cannot guarantee that any applicant will secure sponsorship
  • Priority will be given to first-time Summit attendees (not One Young World Ambassadors).
  • Due to the overwhelming amount of applications we receive, One Young World is unable to respond to individual emails enquiring about the outcome of the Leading Scholarship selection process.

UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH JULIUS NYERERE MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS 2025 FOR TANZANIANS TO STUDY IN THE UK (FUNDED)

Applications are now open for the 2025 University of Edinburgh Julius Nyerere Masters Scholarships.The Nyerere Scholarship provides funding for a talented Tanzanian graduate to follow in Julius Nyerere’s footsteps and study at the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will receive funding for a one-year postgraduate scholarship in the multidisciplinary MSc in Africa and International Development programme. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens domiciled in Tanzania, who have graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e. 2022-2024) or will be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The award will be made to a Tanzanian citizen domiciled in Tanzania who has graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e., 2022-2024), or will be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025, and who is accepted on the full-time MSc Africa and International Development programme.

Award

  • The scholarship will cover Tuition Fees and an annual stipend at the UKRI rate (amount to be advised; for reference, this is £19,237 in 2024/25). The annual stipend will be paid in monthly instalments following full matriculation. Payments are made into the awardee’s UK bank account.
  • Awards are made for one year only.
  • The award cannot be held alongside any other scholarship funding.

Application Process

  1. Submit your application to the MSc programme following the application process guidance. Please ensure you include your: CV, degree certificates, final/interim transcript(s), transcript grading scale(s), English language evidence, and academic references.
  2.  Submit your application to the scholarship through the online scholarship application system (see Applying section below).    This involves completing the following in your Personal Statement (up to 500 words/3500 characters including spaces):

(i) – List two books that you have read in the last five years which have had an impact on you. List the title and author of the books, and explain briefly what each book is about and why it has made an impression on you.

(ii) – Why do you wish to do further studies? How would a MSc in Africa and International Development facilitate your career goals?

(iii) – What do you think is one of the most pressing problems in Tanzania that needs research? How would you go about researching it? Who would be interested in or benefit from your findings? How and why?

(iv) – What are Tanzania’s major advantages in global development? Why and how are they advantageous? Who benefits from them?

Notification

  • The CAS Selection Panel will meet in February to review the scholarship applications. All scholarship applicants will be contacted with the outcome by the end of March 2025.

AFGRI is offering an opportunity for an exciting apprentice training program at our various branches in South Africa. We seek dynamic, self-motivated individuals with the necessary technical ability, wishing to qualify as an Artisan, are invited to apply. The Apprenticeship Program affords the incumbent the opportunity to grow within AFGRI under the mentorship of our leaders, informal training as well as on the job development rotations in multidisciplinary teams.

This apprenticeship will be a 3 year in-service training experience. This will be towards a qualification known as Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic. The first 6 months is probation time period. This period is use for the company and the employee to make sure it is a long term relationship. Any party may withdraw in this period without any consequences. Thereafter the apprentice will be bind by an AFGRI contract and start his actual training. This training includes: The apprentice will be going to a Practical Training Institute in the different phases needed (If needed). At the same time the apprentice will be written-in for N subjects needed at a College and will study as distance learning (If needed and if available). It is expected to attend classes on Saturdays also. The distance learning might continue as needed while at workplace. The apprentice will undergo Product Training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg and other suppliers as well as Internal training hosted by our own Specialists.

Above mentioned training do not have training costs involved to the apprentice if passed, but any training failed will have to redone in own time and costs. All the Apprentices are bound with the contract. This is a 3 year contract with AFGRI. Should the apprentice withdraw within the period of apprenticeship or the “work-back period” there will be costs involved. Depending on time and phase of withdrawal, the costs will be calculated. It is expected that the apprentice work back the time it took him to qualify. The contract cannot be extended for more than 4 years. If the apprentice has not been qualified in 4 years, the contract expires.

The duties of the Apprentice will include:

  • Trained to be a Mechanic / Technician
  • Repair and maintenance of related equipment
