Position Title: chef (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Cooks are primarily accountable for cooking the food along with the sous chefs. The purpose is to execute the chef’s plan and direction for a continued efficiency of the kitchen and production of consistent, quality food

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:

  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance to Shanta Mining Co. Ltd HSE requirements.
  • Check the food quality, presentation, and service as per the required standards defined by Head Chef.
  • Liaise with Head Chef to discuss day to day operational requirements, achievements and improvements and take necessary action accordingly.
  • Assist Head Chef in preparing / modifying menus and recipes.
  • Assist Head Chef to prepare daily requisition for the next day kitchen supplies considering forecasted man-days, menu, and stock balance in the kitchen and available items in store.

Mine Administration Superintendent has the following account­abilities:

  • Promote safe working culture and behaviours within respec­tive department in collaboration with line management.

  • Employees’ Transportation: Management of employees’ transportation, ensure the availability and reliability of such services at 100% on site

Position Title: GEOLOGIST (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The purpose of the role is to effectively monitor and supervise all ore movements to the ROM Pad ensuring that the dumping and Mine Feed blending strategies are adhered to. Monitor the accuracy of truck tally and payload data collected by Pit and ROM spotters ensuring correct data capture and effective reconciliation with the Modular Mining System.
  • Supervision of the GC drilling operations ensuring that quality samples are safely collected in accordance with the quarterly Drilling Execution Schedule.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

Position Title: HR OFFICER (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Human Resources Officer develop, advise on and implement HR policies relating to the effective use of people within Shanta Mining Co. Ltd. The aim is to ensure that Shanta Mining employs the right people, on the right roles in terms of capability, skills and experience etc., create encouraging environment for employees to work contentedly to achieve business objective and at the same time own satisfaction.
  • The purpose of this role is to provide direct output support to HR Manager, through delivery of human resources transactional services to the department/s allocated in line with Shanta Mining HR policies, standards & systems and Labour relations regula­tions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

The HR Officer provides support to HR Manager with the coordination of the HR services delivery to all departments. These include:

Safety:

  • In collaboration with line management promote safe working environment, culture and behaviours in your respective depart­ment of supervision.

HR Planning:

  • Helping Departmental line managers in developing and executing HR plans in terms of labour numbers, labour costs, labour productivity and efficiencies while considering immediate and long-term staff requirements in terms of numbers and skill levels.

Position Title: DEPUTY MINE MANAGER

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to optimize the mine plan, and put in place equipment, people and operating systems to deliver sus­tainable and reliable production at world standard productivity levels and costs.

The Deputy Mining Manager in collaboration with the Mining

Manager have to assess the feasibility, safety and productivity of potential mine locations and plan, manage and optimise the extraction of surface and underground deposits; direct, control and develop the operation of Shanta Mining Co. Ltd in accor¬dance with the required legislative framework and appropriate industry practices.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Deputy Mining Manager has the following accountabilities and authorities:

  • To assist Mine Manager in Mining production strategy inputs to Technical Services around development of the Long Term, Mid Term and Short-Term planning process.
  • Manage and control OPEX and CAPEX in accordance with approved plans.
  • Deliver ROM tonnes and grades as in accordance with the annual plan and budget and deliver waste stripping as per budget.
  • To assist Mine Manager to direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to mining standards, organisational standards and legislative standards.
  • The effective management and provision of resources to achieve effective mine operations work systems within the context of the business strategy to improve its own cost performance.
  • Integrating all mining production functions required to develop, monitor, progress, resource and executes the Mine Plan, leading to improvements in performance of safety, productivity and costs expected gains in safety.
  • Designing and implementing operating processes, standards, procedures, cross-functional efficiencies and internal teams to deliver in accordance with the Business Plan (considering owner and contract activities).

Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer has the following accountabilities and authorities:

  • Provide input support in the preparation of Operational and Capital Budgeting.
  • Management of periodic mine planning activities taking into account of the monthly, quarterly, yearly and long-term production plans.
  • Overseeing at areas of their responsi­bility the health and safety of the worksite and employees, design mine infrastruc­tures, ventilation & extraction systems and mining services ensuring the safety of mining equipment and assessing mine equipment supplies.
  • Administer mining production process­es, overseeing employees’ activities on worksites. Make sure that targets are met; discuss and solve any operational obstructions.   • Overseeing major construction projects and ensuring that operations run smooth­ly and within the budget. Ensure existing projects are tracked by individual plan­ners; schedules adjusted accordingly.
  • Work in collaboration with mining shift supervisors or foremen on a regular basis to discuss plans and involve crews; review schedules and communicate concerns and targets at meetings.
  • A sound knowledge on understating and ensuring mine design and or plans compliance based on the existing SOP for both drill & blast designs QAQC, toe check, ramp gradient/width compliance, bench/floor level etc.
  • Capable of preparing a minimum of 5 years detailed mine plan and scheduling that includes mining physicals consol­idation and metal plan profile; ensure monthly or quarterly production forecasts are compiled and issued in a timely manner.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • At least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized University.

  • Must be registered by a Tanzanian professional regulatory body and one of the International bodies preferably SAIMM orAusIMM.

  • Safety and Training Officer is to provide visible and high-level safety support to Shanta Mining Co. Ltd (SMCL) employees, ensure the safe and efficient operation of SMCL operation and associated infrastructure.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Safety Officer has the following account­abilities and authorities:

Promotion of HSE throughout area of accountability:

  • To promote occupational health and safety within the mine site, section and other areas of safety accountability.
  • Advise management on how to increase worker participation in health and safety programs raising employee morale and reducing possible incidents.
  • Attend daily departmental toolbox talks, committee meetings and to create safety awareness among all employees of the mine.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to all aspects of operational safety and en­courage teamwork within the operations.

Inspection and reporting on HSE compliance:

  • Conduct inspections and write reports informing management which area may not be in compliance with company po­lices and legal requirements in order to gain support for addressing these areas.
  • To ensure that machinery and equip­ment meet appropriate safety mine regulations, through regular inspections and testing of such equipment.
  • To check that personnel protective equipment supplied to the employees is being used in workplaces according to regulations and mine standards.
  • Investigate all injuries, incidents, near miss and unsafe conditions reported, study possible causes and recommend­ed remedial actions to management.

  • Provide on a monthly basis, a detailed report of activities and statistics con­ducted during the period to the Safety Superintendent / Safety & Environment Manager.

  • Analyze work environments and design programs to control, eliminate and prevent diseases or injury caused by all health and safety factors including ergonomic factors that involve the impact of equipment design on workers comfort or fatigue.
  • To test and identify work areas for potential accidents and health hazards, to help develop implement appropriate control measures and also by employee participation/involving and observing their work as well as inspecting elements in their work environment such as light­ing tools and equipment.

  • Provide input support in the preparation of Operational and Capital Budgeting.
  • Management of periodic mine planning activities taking into account of the monthly, quarterly, yearly and long-term production plans.
  • Overseeing at areas of their responsi­bility the health and safety of the worksite and employees, design mine infrastruc­tures, ventilation & extraction systems and mining services ensuring the safety of mining equipment and assessing mine equipment supplies.
  • Administer mining production process­es, overseeing employees’ activities on worksites. Make sure that targets are met; discuss and solve any operational obstructions. In collaboration with desig­nated position or roles, review schedules and implement necessary contingencies to meet production goals.
  • Overseeing major construction projects and ensuring that operations run smooth­ly and within the budget. Ensure existing projects are tracked by individual plan­ners; schedules adjusted accordingly.
  • Work in collaboration with mining shift supervisors or foremen on a regular basis to discuss plans and involve crews; review schedules and communicate concerns and targets at meetings.
  • A sound knowledge on understating and ensuring mine design and or plans compliance based on the existing SOP for both drill & blast designs QAQC, toe check, ramp gradient/width compliance, bench/floor level etc.
  • Capable of preparing a minimum of 5 years detailed mine plan and scheduling that includes mining physicals consol­idation and metal plan profile; ensure monthly or quarterly production forecasts are compiled and issued in a timely manner.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized University.
  • Must be a holder of the valid blasting certificate according to the Mining Act and Regulation.
  • Must be a registered professional by a local regulatory body e.g., ERB.
  • A valid Tanzanian driving licence

Experience:

  • Overall minimum of 5 years’ experience in the surface mining method, practicing both mine planning, mine design, opera- tion/production and or project supervision in general.
  • Proof of proficiency in conducting drill and blast activities safely.
  • Experience in mine planning and an operation in underground mining environment

Position Title: STORES CONTROLLER (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Assist the Store Manager in ensuring an effective warehousing / store function that not only ensures expeditious and accurate receiving of inbound goods but ensures that goods received are stocked under the right conditions to maximize their shelf lives, and eventually account accurately for their distribution to end users.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Undertake calculation of re-averaged unit costs based on current unit cost and latest unit cost from goods received from Kardex.
  • Oversee the maintenance of kardex card information by stores clerks including quantities received, updating unit costs, quantities issued & Stock balances.
  • Check the accuracy of all account allocations for stock or direct issues.
  • Assist with weekly Critical Stock Report (CSR) stocktakes and report compilation and take over full accountability for CSR report in the absence of NET representative.
  • Undertake a weekly reconciliation of physical and kardex stock balances for all CSR items.
  • Undertake random and/or cyclic stock takes.
  • Check POD documents for all deliveries and update the GRN records.
  • Prepare documents for submission to Dar-es-Salaam Accounts Payable.
  • Send POD documents to Dar-es-Salaam office and update POD log and send copies of all NET POD s to NET representative.
  • Raise monthly costing journals based on account allocations.
  • Sign off GRN documents in the absence of the Stores Manager.
  • Oversee stores in the absence of the Stores Manager.

Expediting Functions:

  • Maintain enquiry and order logs for all live Shanta enquiries and orders and provide feedback to end users when end user motivated orders have been raised.
  • Expedite all incomplete enquiries or undelivered orders by contacting local suppliers directly and relying on NET for imports.
  • Provide end users with updates on the progress of their live orders making use of supplier feedback, in particular the weekly NET Order Status Report and the weekly Maintenance Plan.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s in Accountancy and Finance
  • Must be in possession of a valid Tanzanian driver’s license.

Must have knowledge of:

  • High level of computer skill (MS Word and Excel).
  • At least two years experience in a busy store operation

Position Title: DIESEL MECHANICS-LV (2 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Diesel Mechanic is accountable for servicing, maintenance and repair of mining equipments including development jumbo drills, diesel trucks and loaders.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Diesel Mechanics has the following accountabilities and authorities:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on mining equipments in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule and the Maintenance Foreman’s instructions.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment for damages or defects and record findings for reporting purposes.
  • Travel to the underground / open pit mine to conduct regular servicing on development jumbo drills; conduct repairs to out of service equipment including development jumbo drills, diesel trucks and loaders. Repair the equipment and report completion of task.
  • Maintain the surface workshop in a state of good housekeeping.
  • Conduct risk assessment where repairs are not covered by standard procedures.
  • Perform pre-start checks, refuel and wash equipment.
  • Fill out stores requisitions with specific knowledge of spare parts required.
  • Complete all tasks at the required rate and to the required standard.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Formal qualifications in Diesel Fitting/Mechanical Fitting or equivalent; FTC or Trade Test qualified grade I, II, or III – Mechanical or Diesel Fitting Trade Certificate

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years working experience
  • Currently or previously employed in an underground and or surface mining operation as a Fitter Diesel mechanic
  • Experience operating diesel equipment
  • Ability to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts
  • Experience with Sandvik, jumbos, trucks and loaders will be highly regarded.
  • Emergency Response Team experience and qualifications will be highly regarded

Must have knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act, Regulations and relevant Standards
  • A sound knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, valves, mining equipment.

Position Title: CASHIER (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Accountable for error-free cash operations, payment processing, and interactions with customers/ employees. Process all transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Receive/ pay cash, cheque, or automatic debits for various company transactions as per procedure and policies in place.
  • To post and update all payments into the ledger/ Syspro system and Reconciliation of cash accounts
  • Prepare cash requirements/ floats in a accurate manner and as stipulated in Cash procedures Issue receipts, refunds, credits, due to customers / employees.
  • Prepare petty cash payments
  • Receive and pay Cash advances; maintain and monitor the Cash advances t accounts
  • To age the employee advances to Senior Payroll Officer for set-off
  • To keep and file properly all cash payments/Receipts as per company procedures
  • Prepare monthly cash summary and reports as required
  • Ensure there is adequate money for daily operations.
  • Communicate company policies and procedures to customers/employees.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor/Manager

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or a similar field Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Accountant in a Manufacturing /Mining Environment

Position Title: ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Environmental officer is accountable for assisting Environment Superintendent running environmental functions within the Shanta Mining Co. Ltd; ensures that environmental policies are well implemented, and environmental campaigns are effective, evaluating, planning and implementing environmental issues.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Environmental Officer has the following accountabilities and authorities:

  • Execute developed environmental management plans, programs, and strategies on site.
  • Plan environmental projects and provide reports on status and outcomes.
  • Prepare written reports as required, briefs for projects and or services, and strategies, policies, and management plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of field personnel to ensure works are completed to specified standards.
  • Provide technical input into the development of environmental policies, guidelines, and procedures for the SMCL.
  • Conduct the environmental incident reporting & incident investigation program.
  • Oversee contractors and consultants as per the company’s standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure monitoring programs of air quality, water quality, noise & vibration, meteorological, soil and biodiversity are maintained and undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of information and training of environmental management aspects for all employees.
  • Provide input to Environment Superintendent into the development of environmental quality standards, guidelines, objectives, policies, procedures and/or legislation.
  • Carryout inspections, conduct investigations, resolve conflict, and take appropriate action.
  • Conduct monitoring projects in support of studies, programs, and the development of guidelines and standards.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Science/Environment is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2- 3 years working experience in environmental management role in a large-scale operation preferably in the mining and extractive industry.
  • Experience in the application of EHS management systems.

Must have knowledge of:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Tanzanian and international regulatory framework for environmental management in general.
  • Knowledge on ISO 14001 EMS implementation process
  • Audit/EMS management systems
  • NEMC registrations for Audit and EIA
