Role overview

Volunteer role: Research M&E Adviser
Role overview
In this role the Research Monitoring and Evaluation volunteer will work closely with the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator to conduct baseline survey for the Volunteers for Development Project (VfD). The research volunteer’s specific tasks will directly contribute to monitoring and evaluating the VSO projects, through various baseline data collection on interventions and analysis. This analysis will show the benchmark of the VSO projects and help to realistic target basing on the evidence obtained during the baseline exercise. The information will advise the project for future direction of strategy implementation. Volunteer role: Horticulture Specialist
Role overview
Horticulture Specialist will work closely with the District and ward Agriculture Extension Officers to support the community especially poor households in Kamachumu division to establish kitchen gardens. The prospective volunteer will train Ward and Village Agriculture Extension Officers in horticulture and also train the community on good agronomic practices (GAP), establishment and maintenance of kitchen gardens and proper use of seeds.

Role overview
You will coach various SMEs to grow their enterprises in food processing and natural resource product production. You will establish working relationships with local SMEs through the introduction of SIDO and the field manager and build a mentor-mentee relationship. By utilizing your management skills, SMEs will learn from your business insights in the production and sale of goods. By working with national volunteers, you will be supported in some language and cultural interpretation when fostering relationships with various local SMEs.
This role does entail a solid understanding of business fundamentals, as well as some work experience as an entrepreneur or in manufacturing, to properly advise SMEs on the growth of their businesses.

Project Officer
Role overview
The incumbent will support the Tanzania Local Enterprise Development (TLED) Project to reach its objective of facilitating delivery of Business Development Services (BDS) to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Mtwara Region. S/he will also take part in building capacity of the T-LED SMEs which includes selecting and making regular contacts with the SMEs, facilitating training and coaching on areas related to business development, marketing and financial management and organizing exhibition events for the SMEs among others.

The project focuses on selected Value Chains related to Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs) in the areas of Oil and Gas, and gives priority to SMEs that show great potential to grow. Additional roles may include supporting day to day activities in the T-LED regional office activities as needed.
